ROWE RACES TO THIRD ATLANTIC CAT 250 CROWN

(Halifax, NS. Aug 13, 2011) – Ben Rowe (Turner, ME) was not to be denied Saturday night at Scotia Speedworld as he raced the #10 Dexter Construction/Municipal Group Chevrolet Impala to victory lane in the Atlantic CAT 250. The win is the third for Rowe in the prestigious event, which dates back to 2000 at the Speedworld. John Flemming (Halifax, NS) brought the #97 The Roofing Connection Dodge home in second place, holding off “The Oval Outlaw” Wayne Smith (Timberlea, NS), who will unofficially take the point lead following the Atlantic CAT 250. Completing the top five was Darren MacKinnon (Charlottetown, PE) in the #18 Shaw’s Towing Impala and Mike MacKenzie (Dartmouth, NS) aboard the #02 HTP Hot Water Systems Chevrolet.

Rowe kicked off the day by pacing the 24-car field in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a 14.413 second lap around the 3/10-mile oval. Rowe also took the checkers in the Fast Eddie Racewear Dash For Cash while MacKinnon and Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) took top honors in the Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races. MacKenzie gained the most positions in the feature to pick up the Vortex Brake Pads Hard Charger Award. Rowe also pocketed extra cash courtesy of the Linde Group as he led the most laps (154) of the race while Smith nailed down the King Freight Lines Halfway Award. For his win in the Atlantic CAT 250, Rowe was presented with the Scott Fraser Memorial Trophy – a prize that he holds close to his heart after racing many laps with the late Fraser.

Over 6,000 fans witnessed the Atlantic CAT 250 in person while thousands of others tuned in from across the globe on The Score Sirius Channel 158 as apart of the live flag-to-flag coverage of the event on Race Time Radio. The race took just under two hours to complete and featured six yellow flags, all of which took place after the halfway break as the first 125 circuits ran caution free.

The next event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is the Lucas Oil 100 on Saturday, August 20th, at Riverside International Speedway. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials begin at 5:10pm with the Fast Eddie Dash for Cash rolling off at 6pm.  Tickets are on sale now at Ticket Atlantic and participating Atlantic Superstores, phone 1.877.451.1221 or visit www.ticketatlantic.com.
