I too am somewhat confused about the open wheel modifieds.
For the last few years, what I considered the open wheel modified touring series was the Modified Racing Association (MRA) which grew out of the open wheel modified series that raced at Delaware.
The MRA joined with OSCAAR to form the OSCAAR Mods.
There are still several tracks, Delaware, Flamboro, Varney and now Mosport that show visits from Open Wheel Modifieds on their schedules that are not on the OSCAAR schedule. What cars are these???

It's hard to explain. But the techtonix open wheel modifieds has nothing to do with osscar.

This series of open mods is running only at Mosport only.

More information and the site will be up soon.

Mod_Racer.....Don't know who you are, but maybe you can explain why is this a joke?

oldbill / Jimmy Thunder...........Just to clarify the confusion that appears to be out there....for the past several years there have been three (3) groups of open wheel modifieds...Delaware (MRA), Mosport (Techtonix) and Varney. During this time, there never was a touring series of open wheel modifieds, nor did all of the open wheel modifieds run under the MRA.  It was three (3) individual goups who were trying to support each others race dates and and a few invitationals. The MRA was a group from Delaware that organized a couple of open wheel modified shows other than those at Delaware, while Mosport and Varney still had their own race dates.
We still are trying to find out where this understanding that all open wheel modifieds were running with Oscaar came from?? Maybe someone can clarify that?

so in other words...mosport will still be running it's own series for mods for their cars...just because delaware dropped theirs doesnt mean all tracks planned too...i'm sure there will be some that dont want to invest the extra $$$ and time to travel...

Rules are available for both series check them out oscaar mods are on the www.oscaar.ca and the TECHTONIX Open Wheel Modifieds are on facebook just search it. Oscaar mods race 12 times and tour to different tracks with oscaar super lates and once with the super mods at Delaware. TECHTONIX mods only run 6 times all at mosport.

yes but you would have to change your tires and rims, and if your running a 604 crate engine you will have to change it too,i dont think they allow that crate.and im pretty sure they don't allow coil over shocks or wide five or quick change if you have that on your car.

Well David, aka burrows boyz, we would ask that you refrain from taking over a message board that has been provided for the Techtonix Open Wheeled Modifieds. Also to refrain from speaking for us and stick to what you know..

mod_racer....to answer your question, we will work with any modified that wants to race...of course within reason to our rules which are the modified rules that we have worked with over the past couple of years....we will be looking at what handicaps / weight penalties will be necessary to maintain fair and equal competition. Just a few things that we will have to deal with now are coilovers all around, wide 5's, quick changes...closed chamber heads and another new carb...so we will be looking at what is required and have it available on our new website over the next few weeks...
Two definite common requirments will be 8 in tires and rims and 7,000 rpm chips.

so other words no because im not goin to be changing my car from wide five or quick change if you guys were smart you would make it easy for cars to come race at your track.... just saying in the long run it would work out the best in stead of going up against the oscaar mods

so you think the techtonix cars should convert to the oscaar rules in order for the oscaar mods to be able to go to mosport without any weight penalties?
if i've got that right (and correct me if im wrong)
now you've just forced me to,
- buy another engine
- convert to coil overs
- convert to a quick change
- buy yet another carb
thats just off the top of my head
what am i missing?
where does this make any sense?

So if we're spending everyone else's money, how about this
- scrap everyones rulebooks techtonix, oscaar etc
- go back to the first generation, first version rules (mosport, varney, delaware)
then everyone (techtonix, oscaar, etc) can spend a boatload more money & have a shed-barn-back yard full of obsolete parts

for one you wouldnt have to  do anything to your car ...this is what the modified needs its been to long that they have been back in 1980's its time to move on and improve the look and most importantly the respect the mods needs  there are tons of cars out there not changing anything but putting 10" wheels on.
