SOUTHERN ONTARIO SPRINTS FAST AND FURIOUS AT BRIGHTON THIS SATURDAY
By Tommy Goudge (August 6, 2009) – The Southern Ontario Sprints tour is back in action at Brighton Speedway this Saturday, August 8th for the sixth round of the championship series, with Shedden’s Justin Martin leading the way in the points chase. Fans are invited to spend the weekend in the area, as discount tickets are available for “Fast and Furious Weekend” featuring the OSCAAR Super Late Models at Kawartha Speedway on Friday, and the SOS tour at Brighton on Saturday.
Martin has yet to win a feature this season, but consistency has placed him at the top of the pack, while Adam West of Ridgetown and Lefroy driver Warren Mahoney give chase, just eleven and twenty points behind, respectively. The rest of the top ten includes Sutton’s Bob Crawford, Tyler Rand of Consecon, Glenn Styres from Ohsweken, Newmarket driver Dick Mahoney, Burford’s Jamie Collard, Ryan Hunsinger from Brantford, and “Joyceville Jet” Rick Wilson.
In the Riverside Bar and Grill Brighton Speedway miniseries, Martin is deadlocked with Collard at the top of the standings, with West just three points behind, while Rick Wilson and Warren Mahoney are still well within striking distance with three events left, including this Saturday.
The last SOS event at Brighton on July 11th ended with Adam West in victory lane, after the “Batman” passed Rick Wilson with just a handful of laps remaining. Wilson settled for second, followed by Warren Mahoney, Jamie Collard, and rookie of the year candidate Travis Cunningham.
Don’t miss the sixth round of the Southern Ontario Sprints season on Saturday, August 8! The SOS races are once again presented by Holiday Inn of Trenton, while Brighton’s popular Canadian Modifieds, Comp 4’s, Pure Stocks, and Stingers will also be in action.
