Veteran Christman Holds Off Hahn for ARCA Truck Triumph at Sauble Speedway

SAUBLE BEACH ON (6-27-09) - ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series veteran Steve Christman added another trophy to his collection with a convincing victory Saturday night at Sauble Speedway in Sauble Beach, Ontario.

The 62-year-old Fort Wayne, Indiana driver passed two-time series champion Paul Hahn early on and then held him off later on to win the Rotella 100, his fourth career series victory.

Christman, in the no. 99 Blaine Miller Service-Double B Garage Chevy Colorado, passed Hahn on lap 26 of the 100-lap race and then held back his charge during a green-white-checker finish.

A lap 97 caution for a two-truck wreck involving Rob Jones and Kenny Kirsch bunched up the field erasing Christman's advantage. However, Hahn could not find a way around the eventual winner and finished second, two lengths away in the Hahn's Powder Coating-Fox Auto Parts-Howe Racing Chevy.

Christman's triumph ended Hahn's three-race win-streak on the flat, quarter-mile Sauble paved oval.

Toledo, Ohio's Mike Young finished third in the Dave White Chevrolet-Dave White Auto Credit Chevy in front of two-time series champion Bill Withers, who finished fourth in the Wachholz Engines-Hall Electronics-Withers Foreign Auto Ford, the last truck on the lead lap. Withers, who started 10th, also earned the Ed & Company Hard Charger award for advancing the most positions.

Danny Jackson was running third in the Red Bank Transport-Lykin Co.-R&B Fabrication Chevy with two laps to go before his right-front tire went flat, relegating the Loveland, Ohio driver to fifth in the final running order, one lap down.

Nathan Trepkowski, Jones, Kirsch, The Phantom and Tim Schafer completed the top-10 finishers respectively.

Sixteen-year-old Matt Hall, making his career-first series start, earned the Fast Qualifier award but dropped out of the race with transmission failure 61 laps shy of the finish.

The ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series heads next to Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa for the IMTA 50 Saturday, July 11th in conjunction with the same-night ARCA RE/MAX Series Prairie Meadows 200.
