Is anyone on the board going to the Busch race in Montreal?

Just wondering. I was look at ticket prices and they seem to be a lot a money??

The drive for me would be almost 6 hours. I can go to Michigan and see a Nextel Cup race for less money and less traveling time.

I wonder what the crowds are going to be like. A friends was saying the Busch series won't do well as the fan base is F1 in Montreal.

Just curious that's all

i would go but im working. the only reason i would go though is to see a larger crowd than im used to and the stars in the field not the regular busch drivers who are hilarious to watch in action on a road course. the cascar guys could probably take the a lot of cup guys to school on the road course. i think carpentier and JR will do good. anyone know if tracy and shephard are for sure going to be there?

now make the top 20 in a busch race... wow it is you who is really drunk.  i know its oval but pete shephard is not the best cascar driver at all and he is setting sometimes the fastest or top 5 times in truck practice this year.  we are talking busch here. there are MANY cascar drivers that would take the regular busch drivers to school on a roadcourse.  too and the busch series is all cup drivers these day though. still. JR, micks, thomson, lapcevich ...could qualify well in both a busch and cup race on a road course AND an oval. anyone else care to have an opinion. if you watch all these series it should come as no surprise what i am saying. cascar drivers simply have more practice on roadcourses. double what cup drivers too and even more than busch drivers.

are you forgetting lapcevich races grand am cup. most cup and busch drivers dont do any road course outside of cup and busch. i am not calling cascar drivers better than tony stewart or jeff gordon and some others like robby gordon but they could definately battle with those guys and I would LOVE nothing more than to see it.

I bet we'll see Ron Fellows out there.  I think he could get the job done with decent equipment.

Assuming the Canadian drivers who are going to attempt Montreal are in equal equipment, then they'll do something out there. As it stands, with their cast-off equipment and collective lack of experience with Busch-style cars they're going to be home-grown filler like the Mexicans for the Mexico City race. I don't know what sort of equipment JR had when he ran BGNN at Lime Rock, but he was barely cracking the top-20 in all sessions and wrecked out relatively early on.

Also, as far as the Pete Shepard thing, let's see how he does outside of Daytona first before we start beating the drums. When all of the Roush trucks were at the top of the charts for testing, that seems to indicate more of a mechanical advantage than all of the drivers being on the same page.

i agree... once used to the cars and if in good equipment they will do good. however, a lot if busch drivers seem to qualify well but crash and bang during the race due to lack of experience. didnt this hurt fellows last year when he was trying to come from the back? i think that was the race.

Don't forget that no matter how poorly they may qualify, the top 30 Busch Series teams in the car owners points are guaranteed a spot in the race. That leaves 12 spots available to all others who attempt to qualify, maybe 13 positions if no past champion needs a starting spot.  On a road course, you could conceivably time among the 30 fastest and get sent home, even if you were faster than half of the guaranteed starters. There will be regular Busch Series teams outside of the top 30 in points 'outsourcing' the driving for this race, you can be sure.
