Now, could you imagine the possibilities if both tracks were to have common specs across the board and a schedule which complimented each other rather than directly competed with each other?

Uh oh, we've gone down this road before :)

I remember some very long and heated threads on this. If the two tracks (owners) could ever agree it would be great. It works for Kawartha/Peterborough.

Mobil, you are 100% right, can you imagine if they had a home and away series  every week 140 race cars trying to qualify and race.within 20 miles of each track. It would really be something.

There was a time that three tracks in  relatively close proximity got their rules similar to each other and ran on separate days/nights and all of them flourished for a three year period .

The CNE ran Friday nights  Wasaga Beach ran Saturday nights and South Shore Speedway ran Sunday afternoon . You also had Pinecrest that ran Saturday nights but the cars were legal to run at Wasaga and South Shore so you really had four tracks on the same page at the same time.

I don't know if you could  ever get 3 or 4 track owners to agree on rules like this again but it sure would be nice.

A little trivia ... Anyone know who the only driver in Canadian history to win three track championships in one year was ?

This was done when Barrie ran Sunday afternoons around 1997 (just before it closed).  I think the biggest problem with that concept is you wont have a situation where multiple drivers run both tracks.  As many have pointed out in previous threads, the payout money hasn't increase that much in the last 30 years, however the cost of running a car has.  This has been tried on a low level basis through the BPS Rumble and the Barrie-Sunset challenge (maybe called the Simcoe County Shootout?) from a couple of years ago.  It is really too bad, because each track has some strong positives.  Sunset has solid car counts, terrible marketing, Barrie has OK car counts, great marketing.  Outside of the same person running both tracks (which may or may not be viable from a profit standpoint), I can't see it working.

According to Barries home of the truth (Bayside Automotive), the  gospel according to Ron is that Vic Parsons,  Chris Morrow and part time Paul Milligan will be running for the big bucks at Oro/Barrie /St.Onge/ Skidoo/ ? Speeday starting next week .

Well, Morrow had his car at the Sunset show, so I don't beleive a word of it.  They may race the first night as Sunset opens a week later, but I can't see it as a regular thing

I'm only repeating what l was told, and Vic has registered at Barrie at the end of the day they are all home boys and girls, if they had any sense they would form a pact and run 1 week Sunset 1 week Barrie, 1 bigger payout  1 points fund 1 flag crew 1 tech crew etc, 2 commentators etc,you would need to get there early for a seat.I remember in the mid nineties when Sunset had 3 divisions inc real late models, that was incredible racing and big crowds,1/2 the year the tracks must lose money this way everyone would win.Ah well back to my dream,

Spencer Lewis I don't know what happened to Poole last year at Barrie maybe you would care to tell us but if your looking for love and admiration you should really get a dog and not a stock car.

What did happen to Poole last year? I always thought he liked to run the track. Carcone on the other hand...

A little trivia, if Vic indeed makes the switch he will be the only driver to have raced NASCAR Cup (early 1970s in Bill Siefert's Mercury), the original NASCAR Canada (and at Barrie in 1975 no less :) and the NASCAR Whelen Series.  Not to mention his 1965 championship at Barrie in the inaugural season a few decades ago.

Not saying he's old mind you :):):)

More trivia .. Vic ran both Fords and Mercurys out of Sieferts Rent A Racer stable . In 65 Vic decided to run Barrie rather the run Wasaga where Norm Lelliot Jack Cook and Doug Warnes (the Hot Dogs of the era) ran . Better to win at Barrie then run 4th at the Beach.
