Sept 6th Summary from Grand Bend Speedway

The Can-Am midgets brought 21 cars to the Bend on Saturday joining the Junior Late Models, 9hp Mini Sprints, Mini Trucks and 440’s for racing on a cool night on the ¼ mile. The micro sprints had the night off.

Junior Late Models

1st, #9 Mike Beneteau; 2nd, Mark Jacobs(subbing for Kris Lawrence); 3rd, Zack Kirshner.  9 out of the 21 cars finished on the lead lap in this 50 lap race. Accidents took their toll dropping Brandon Ronald and Brady Smith, the two front runners, to the back with 4 laps to go. Hi-lite was Mike Beneteau winning from scratch after having to go to the pits for adjustments caused by an accident on the initial start.

9 HP Mini Sprint

1st, #38 Colton Becker; 2nd, #45 Jonah Macho; 3rd,  #16, Nathan Allen. Crash filled 50 lap race with 2 red flag stops for serious accidents. Scariest moment of the night was the hard hit backwards into the wall by the #12 of Jansen Becker that resulted in one of the stops. Jansen was alert when he was taken to the hospital by ambulance for precautionary reasons after losing consciousness in the impact. We wish Jansen a quick return.

Mini Trucks

1st, # 72 Shawn Thompson;  2nd, #85 Cole Powel;  3rd, #35 Nathan Wray. Shawn and Cole fought for the lead for the majority of the 50 laps of mostly caution free racing. Darcy McLennan, sub driving for Jared Shields in the #7 truck had a tough night in the truck, with accidents in both the heat and feature. Nathan Wray came back from the accident in the heat race to finish a strong third.

440’s

1st, #44  Barry Dunn;  2nd, # 90 Mark Lamont; 3rd, # 31 Matt Barton(subbing for Adrian Kemps).  Can anyone beat Barry Dunn?

Can-Am Midgets

1st,   #82 James Gray;  2nd,  #74 Rob Neely;  3rd, # 94 Lucas Smith. Very entertaining race with speeds up to 80mph on the GBS quarter mile. Travis Novotny in the #26 acquitted himself well in his first race in a Can-Am.
