Analyzing the Total Quartz 200 At Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — With just three races remaining in the 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series season, all eyes will be on the top three drivers in the points standings. The series returns to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario for the second time this season and the world-class facility has hosted the NPS more than any other track (15). Below is a statistical look at the performance of the series and selected drivers at the track:
Total Quartz 200 Race Setup:
• Alex Labbe leads the point’s standings and has already scored four wins this season. He’s still looking for his first series road course win and will try to keep Kevin Lacroix in second in the standings. Labbe leads Lacroix by 36 points in the standings.
• Lacroix has won the last two series races at CTMP and will try and tie Andrew Ranger’s record of three consecutive series wins at one track if he can sweep both events at CTMP this season.
• Defending series champion Cayden Lapcevich is also looking for his first road course win and enters this race third in the standings 44 points out of the lead.
• D.J. Kennington and Jason Hathaway are the only two drivers to start all 15 previous races at CTMP with each scoring a win.
At Canadian Tire Motorsport Park:
History
• Opened in 1961 as Mosport Park. The name Mosport was a contraction of motor sport.
• Has played host to the American Le Mans Series, CASCAR Super Series, Can-Am, Formula 1, IndyCar, Tudor United SportsCar and USAC Champ Car, among others, through the years.
• Welcomed the NASCAR Pinty’s Series for the first time on June 17, 2007 in an event won by Andrew Ranger.
• Was renamed from Mosport International Raceway to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in February 2012.
• Held its inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event on Sept. 1, 2013, won by Chase Elliott.
Notebook
• CTMP has welcomed the NPS 15 times previously, the most events any track has held since the series began competition in 2007.
• This is the fifth season in a row that CTMP will hold two NPS road course events after single races there from 2007-12.
• The 15 previous races have produced seven different winners, led by J.R. Fitzpatrick’s five.
• There have been eight different pole winners in the 15 contests, led by Andrew Ranger’s six.
• There has yet to be a wire-to-wire victory at CTMP, but two of Ranger’s wins were earned from the pole as was Gary Klutt’s win here in 2015. Earlier this year in May, Kevin Lacroix became the most recent driver to win from the pole at CTMP.
• Fitzpatrick was the youngest CTMP race winner at 20 years, 1 month and 6 days in 2008.
• L.P. Dumoulin was the oldest CTMP victor at 34 years, 6 months and 11 days in 2013.

J.F. Dumoulin (No. 04 Spectra Premium/Bernier/BellemareDodge)
• Has six top-five and 27 top 10s in 46 career NPS starts.
• 2017 will mark the second season J.F. will compete full-time in the series. He competed in all 11 events in 2015 in his best season to date finishing the year with four top-five and seven top-10 finishes.
• Has collected one podium finish (Spring -2015) in eight previous starts with two top-five and four top-10 finishes.
L.P. Dumoulin (No. 47 WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare Dodge)

D.J. Kennington (No. 17 Castrol Edge Dodge)
• The 2010 and 2012 NPS champion maintains series records for top fives (82) and top 10s (110), and is the only driver to start each of the 131 all-time events.
• Ranks second in series history in wins (19), laps led (3,068) and ranks fifth in poles (13).
• Sits fourth in points after 10 races with five top-five and nine top-10 finishes so far this season.
• Has scored one win at CTMP (2011) and is one of two drivers to start all 15 previous events with 11 top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.
Alex Labbe (No. 32 Cam-Am/Kappa/Cyclops Gear/Lou’s BBQ Ford)
• Has five wins (First came at Chaudière – 2016) with six poles, 20 top fives and 26 top 10s in 37 career starts.
• He’s the only four-time winner in the series this season (Delaware, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Riverside).
• Labbe took over the lead in the standings after his win at Edmonton and has built his lead over Kevin Lacroix to 36 points (432-396).
• Won the pole at CTMP last year and has two top-five and four top-10 finishes in five starts at CTMP.
Kevin Lacroix (No. 74 Bumper To Bumper/Total/Go Fast Dodge)
• Has four poles, seven wins, 13 top-five and 19 top-10 finishes in 28 career starts.
• Only driver to recorded two wins in seven starts during his rookie season in 2015. Won road races at Circuit ICAR and Circuit de Trois-Rivieres.
• Won from the pole at CTMP in the season opener and won two races in a row in July taking his second career win at Circuit ICAR and scoring his first win in Toronto.
• Became the first driver in the history of the series to win a caution-free race last season at ICAR in his first start at the track.
• He has won the previous two races at CTMP and has made five starts at CTMP. He also is one of just three drivers to win from the pole at the facility.
Cayden Lapcevich (No. 76 Fastline Motorsports Dodge)
• The defending NPS champion has five wins, 15 top-five, 23 top-10 and one pole in 28 career starts.
• Became the youngest champion in the history of the NPS last season at 16 years, 10 months and 16 days. He also became the youngest race winner in the history of the series with his victory at Wyant Group Raceway last July.
• Recently named a member of the NASCAR Next class highlighting young and up-and-coming talent within NASCAR.
• The NASCAR Next driver has scored three consecutive top-four finishes at CTMP and has collected four top-10 finishes in five starts.
Adam Martin (No. 9 Johnsonville/Oliviers/Reser’s Ford)
• He has two top-five and seven top-10 finishes in 16 career starts and is ninth in the 2017 NASCAR Pinty’s Series championship points standings entering this race.
• Finished fourth in his first series start at Sunset Speedway in 2016.
• The young driver has made two starts at CTMP and finished 10th in May for his first top-10 finish at the historic course.
Andrew Ranger (No. 27 Mopar/Pennzoil Dodge)
• The 2007 and 2009 champion is the series’ all-time leader in wins at 22 and holds the record for the poles with 22. Has 57 top fives and 86 top 10s in 104 career starts.
• Finished second in last year’s final season standings.
• Currently holds the series’ record for consecutive wins at a track with three (ICAR, 2012-14; Trois-Rivieres, 2008-10).
• Missed the race at Edmonton when he fell ill during practice and had to receive treatment at an Edmonton area hospital.
• The all-time series wins leader has won three times at CTMP in 13 starts with a record six poles and seven top-five and 10 top-10 finishes.
Alex Tagliani (No. 18 Lowes Canada/EpiPen/St.Hubert Dodge)
• Has six wins, eight poles and 21 top fives, 35 top 10s in 55 careers NPS starts.
• Three of his five wins at have come on the ovals (Sunset Speedway 2015-16 and Edmonton in 2016). His road course wins came last season in Toronto and the road course in Edmonton in 2008.
• Started from the pole in this event last year and has one top-five and two top-10 finishes in five starts at CTMP.
Other Driver Notes
• Jason Hathaway is competing part-time this season and joins Kennington as the only driver entered this weekend to start all previous 15 races at CTMP. He has scored one win, three top-five and nine top-10 finishes.
• Gary Klutt is also competing part-time this season and has one win, two top-five and six top-10 finishes in eight series starts at CTMP.
• Adam Andretti is set to make his second series start and first at CTMP. He finished third at the Pinty’s Grand Prix in Toronto in July.
• Larry Jackson has made eight starts at CTMP and scored his best finish to date in this race last September coming home 12th.
• Marc-Antoine Camirand has made five starts at CTMP highlighted by a third-place finish in the fall race in 2014.
Up To Speed:
• The 2017 season is the second for series sponsor Pinty’s and the 11th overall for the Canadian-based NASCAR division.
• The 2017 schedule features 13 races at 12 different tracks across five provinces and featured a return to Delaware Speedway for the first time since 2013 earlier this season.
• Quebec native Kevin Lacroix won from the pole at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in May for his third career series win.
• Alex Labbe made Quebec drivers two-for-two this season after he won the CHOKO/Fast Eddie 250 at Delaware Speedway for his second career series victory.
• Defending series champion and current NASCAR Next member Cayden Lapcevich took the lead late from Alex Labbe to score his first win of the season at Autodrome Chaudière.
• Kevin Lacroix used some muscle to make the pass in NASCAR overtime to score his second win of the season and second at Circuit ICAR. He won there during his rookie season in 2015.
• Kevin Lacroix took advantage of some contact between contenders early in the race and withstood a late challenge by Marc-Antoine Camirand before he also crashed out of the race to win his second consecutive series race and third of the season in the race in Toronto.
• Alex Labbe held off D.J. Kennington in NASCAR OT to become the second multi-race winner of the season winning the first of the Velocity Prairie Thunder Twin 100s.
• Cayden Lapcevich joined Alex Labbe and Kevin Lacroix as a repeat winner taking the second race of the Velocity Prairie Thunder Twin 100s at Wyant Group Raceway.
• Alex Labbe became the second driver to score his third win this season holding off a hard-charging Donald Theetge to pick up his second win during the three-race western swing through Saskatoon and Edmonton. He also overtook Kevin Lacroix in the points standings for the first time this season.
• Alex Tagliani held off a hard-charging Andrew Ranger to score his first win of the season and first at GP3R.
• Alex Labbe bumped Kevin Lacroix on the final lap to make the pass in Turn 4 and pick up his fourth win of the season in the Bumper To Bumper 300 at Riverside International Speedway.
