Crate Motors in ALSTAR.

If Crate motors were allowed in Alstar would the teams have time to get them inspected, installed, and ready for the race season?  

Do the teams want to go to Crate Motors?

If there was a way to ensure that the Crate motors were not tampered with before they were installed would the teams opt in for them?

Im not going to vote not being on a team or whatnot. But crates do put things on a level playing field (under the assumption that they werent tampered with). From my understanding they are a cheaper way to go as well so less financial strain on our teams who have limited budgets.

I don't think anyone is suggesting mandating crate engines. I think all some would like to see is that crate engines be allowed to compete in hopes that some Delaware or one of the few Kawartha Lm using a crate might then give it a go. I see no problem with that, but switching to crate engines would open up a whole new can of worms, and quite likely do more harm than good for Alstar.

I don't know why Joe Chisholm does not open up the ALSTAR LM rules for this season.  From now on perhaps we should call him "stubborn Joe".  On a track like Sauble, it is not the horsepower that decides the winner normally, it is the set-up and the handling of the car. I don't see an advantage for crate engines or a custom made engine on a 1/4 mile track.....open the rules up!

Well the rusults so far are 80% in favour of crates. The next question is how to make the Series and Tech people trust them, by making them tamper proof. I am working on that and will submit it to ITM in a while.

Delaware put several cars on the chassis dyno in race trim at the end of last year and found extremely close results between the built motor with heavy clutch and the standard crate with the light clutch  ( I think within 15 hp) maybe Dave W can correct me on this, and when they tested the  ACT car it was down almost 100 hp and yet on a larger track like delaware the power didn't seem to really make all the difference so at sauble it should be even closer competition with the different engines.
