Question for Canadian Racing Online

(1/3) > >>

sleepy11:
I visit several racing sites on a fairly regular basis nascar.com , racingone.com thehotlap.com (formerly bgnracing) speedtv.com trackforum.com and others  where i have hundreds and hundreds of posts over several years . Out of those hundreds of post of many many years i have received one warning from a mod for using a curse word once which i understand , it was a slip and has not happened again . Imagine my surprise when after not posting here a handful of times i had one of my post heavily edited for what seems no logical reason . I have gone back and reread the COC now three times and with the belief that i have reasonable comprehension skills and still see no violation of the COC.

Here is what i posted , in caps is what was edited out .

There are four Canadians registered so far for the ARCA race . Pierre Bourque ,Terry Jones , Ryan Fischer and Mario Gosselin . The only one that is truly competitive is Gosselin and he will be fast enough that he could win it . Bourque who will be 50 this year and has no super speedway experience i expect him to do about as well as he did in his Craftsman Truck debut at IRP last year  CRASHED AND LAST. Terry Jones has run a half a dozen ARCA races but has only finished on the lead lap once which was at Winchester where he did run sixth being the last car on the lead lap .  Only six cars did not blow up or were in a wreck that day but he did keep out of trouble all day at Winchester which is an accomplishment in of it self . Jones is sort of a cautious driver and maybe able to bring it home on one piece but i doubt it will be on the lead lap .Ryan Fischer has very little racing experience and i don't think he has even ever won a short track stock car race . This will be his third time in the Venturini Motorsports. His first time he barrel rolled it down the back chute at Gateway in a very big wreck . His second ARCA race was at Dega where he qualified last and just drove around at the back but since it was a cautionfest he never got lapped . He ran around 30th but the only cars behind him were missing fenders. I know he was fastest in single car runs for one session in Daytona ARCA testing but they only did tech for safety not to see if they were legal and i think there may have been a little somethin somethin going on there. My guess is that Ryan will finish on a roll back.RYANS DADDY HAS DEEP POCKETS AND CAN AFFORD TO RENT HIM ANOTHER CAR IF HE WRECKS THIS ONE .

Here are the results of Pierre Bourques Craftsman Truck Series debut which you can see was exactly as i described CRASHED and LAST

Ryan's father Claudio is very well heeled as anyone that knows him will tell you and did not seem phased in anyway after Ryan pretty much killed this car of Venturinis   //www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Kmm7T8w4uI
I believe i was 100 % accurate in everything i posted if you would care to correct me on any fact you think i have wrong please do .

I don't think i am an overly critical person although i have been known to make statements such as DEIs engine program sucks after Junior blew his seventh engine of the season or that Kyle Busch drives like a fool after he wrecked his own brother in the All Star race . The race fans i enjoy speaking to are the most passionate and often the most opinionated . While i understand a certain decorum must be maintained on a message board i find the actions of this hill3 character to be heavy handed at best and the only thing accomplished by his or her actions was to kill what was an interesting discussion.

once again i will stand behind my call. btw i watched that race you refer to on youtube, how in gods name can that be Ryan's fault? character assianations imho lead to bitterness and after the month we had just past i will not allow people to take pot shots at each other. if the other mods think this wrong i will gladly step down no questions asked

CanadianRacingOnline:
I'm trying to find out where he broke a rule. If he used a swear word I can see the warning being issued but I can't see a real shot or attack. Is this a person on our board that we are talking about or is this Ryan jut a racer?? If he is on the board I can maybe see it as a personal attack but if it is a racer I think it was fine and I remember drivers in nascar they wrecked people even if they were a lap down and I commented on this as this was just an opinion of that drivers racing style.

I never attacked the driver and made person attacks on them. Maybe saying the guys father has deep pockets and he can afford it is an opinion.

No one is asking for anyone to step down because of this and we can't let this get out of hand.

Sleepy11 I and the other mods will look at this and get back to you one this as this is all I can offer at this time and I can understand you being frustrated over it and I'm glad you did it the right way and came to this section so we can discuse it.

Thanks

Evan

But don't engage in - personal attacks, name-calling, judgements, or blanket generalizations. This extends to anyone, from the poster you are answering, to the promoter of a race track on the other side of the country. Its simple - don't bad mouth anyone. You can support, criticize, or discuss an idea, but we draw the line at "so and so is an idiot", as well as other "more clever" ways of saying the same thing. Feel free to criticize if you must, just do it in a respectful manner

The sentiments in your original post are fair enough, but the post itself kinda tramples all over the "Keep it Respectful" principle that we're trying to cultivate here at CRO.

Also, in reading the above post, you seem to be operating under a mistaken assumption, so let's be clear: Just because something might be true does not justify being disrespectful about it.

This statement: "RYANS DADDY HAS DEEP POCKETS AND CAN AFFORD TO RENT HIM ANOTHER CAR IF HE WRECKS THIS ONE."

A: isn't particularly respectful...more like disdainful.
and B: Would likely be the start of a flamewar if anyone here was actually involved with amy of these people. (we realize its not likely, but the principle is there nonetheless. If you started flinging this stuff around about the competitors at the speedways that most of us are involved in, we'd have a meltdown.)

We understand that other boards have different rules, guidelines, and moderation policies. However...we are not all the other racing boards. When you post at CRO, we expect you to follow ours.

Thank you very much.

Interesting but it would seem to be quite a different view then this

Actually Evan, the best message boards have even handed but careful moderation.

I know a good messageboard...a non racing related one that has a simple policy: If you can't say it in front of your Grandma, you can't say it here.
(Shadowracer)

Wouldn't this be offensive to nascar fans , and have the strong potential to set off a flame war ?

601   Canadian race Tracks / Delaware / RE: 2007 schedule  on: November 24, 2006, 08:30:53 PM
Heh...what NASCAR series?

Only thing NASCAR is tops at is hype...which has been literally nil since the initial announcement of them buying out CASCAR.
(Shadowracer)

I am not sure that saying someone has deep pockets would be more offensive then this

Just so you know i didn't look at more then 3 or 4 pages starting at the back to find these examples and i am sure i could have found many more . I also chose to exclude the several cuss words used in many of Shadowracers posts .
I wont go into slagging the administrator of the site Candian Racing Online but i did come across this jewel which i just couldn't pass up .

Scroll about half way down the page

Now reread this posted by Shadowracer again

I sure cant argue the point that you have different rules guidelines and moderation policies , they are different depending on who you are , so please don't pee on my back and tell me its raining out .

I will continue to try to post here because you seem to have some interesting people and topics and with a little luck the moderation will be a little less heavy handed and a little more even handed .
