Alon Day Returns With CAAL Racing To Go For The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Title

The Israeli And The Italian Team Look To Improve His 2015 Second Place

Todi (PG), Italy - After closing the 2015 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season with an extraordinary crescendo that culminated with the second place in the standings and the win in the Junior “Jerome Sarran” Trophy, Alon Day and CAAL Racing will be back together in 2016 to have a shot at the EuroNASCAR Championship title.

In his debut campaign in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, Day cumulated three wins, two pole positions and three fastest laps – all in the last two events of the season – at the wheel of the #54 Chevrolet, fielded by Canneori family. The talented Israeli was undoubtedly the strongest driver in the playoffs, reaching Victory Lane for the first time in his NASCAR career in the Italian team’s home race at the Autodromo Dell’Umbria and dominating the Zolder Finals with a performance that generated great expectations for the upcoming 2016 season.

“I am very happy to join CAAL Racing for another year. We had a great final part of the season last year at Magione and Zolder and we’ll do our best to bring that momentum into 2016,” said the 24-year-old from Ashdod. “It is always great to seat again in the same car that you won races with and I am sure it will be a great season in Whelen NASCAR Euro Series”.

“After two new entries, we are excited to announce this renewal,” said Luca Canneori, CAAL Racing Team Manager, who recently welcomed in the team veteran Freddy Nordstrom and rookie Justin Kunz and is confident Alon Day will be a sure contender for the title. “It is very important to grant continuity to the great work we did last year and our sole goal will be to improve our second position.”

With a renewed technical package to discover – the 2016 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series car was presented at the Zolder Finals back in October and it was met with enthusiasm by teams and fans – Alon Day and CAAL Racing will open the new season with some development tests in the next few weeks, while the Italian team is working on completing its lineup for the April 23-24 NWES opener at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.
