I am split on the charger class not happening. One side, there wasn't enough cars to have 2 divisions. But on the other hand it gives guys who don't have the money to invest a chance at winning too. Some of them definately could compete and finsh half decent in the "A" division. Yes it would be great to learn amongst the better drivers, but you don't always get to learn anything else but how to stay out of the way or how to run at the back. It's nice to run up front sometimes too. It throws your confidence when you always run mid pack and pack. You start doubting yourself when all it is, is the money you have invested. But with so little cars finishing out the season in 08' in the "A" division, I agree this needed to be done for sure.

As far as learning set up and everything, if your running a FWD car and want to go somewhere in racing, your best off starting in Thunders. For the amount of money you spend on getting a mustang to run well, your better off to buy a thunder that's already built. Trust me on this one cause I know from experience

All in all great discussion so far. Let's keep this one going!!

On another note. A big Happy Birthday to our own Suby Man ; Shawn Monette!!!

We don't have a problem with the mustangs. You still need stagger in them, and for some that is the hard thing to get right. We get a little bit of camber and tire stagger That is the whole setup. But to a green driver and crew those things are the difference between first and last. All race cars have gremlins, and change threw the week, so your tweeking a little every week. I still think that there is allways something to learn, in every division. I've heard, and Dave V may know more, that some of the "A" that went MIA last season are returning in 2009. I think were going to find out for sure when they throw the greenflag on opening night.

P/S I'm going to build an Outlaw 4 banger, and it will be a Mustang, (real racecars push, not pull)

my 2 cents! i can't say i that seen a lot of the 4 cyl races as i was busy working on the tank most of the year, but it seems to me that if time was a factor why not get rid of the hour long king of the hill?

Crystal and Desi are good racers. Both will do well. The young lady in KOTH should be classed in with them. She can drive the wheels off that little Chev. I would love to see her get serious about racing, and come out and play. I'm all for more women drivers. About 25 years ago, I put my wife in my street stock at a Flamboro Powder Puff. She hit the wall in turn 4 taking the green, loosing the right front wheel. My partner was on the wall Waving her in and trying them to get them to throw the yellow, She wouldn't stop,. She just waved back and finished second. So I wouldn't choose her. My Oldest Daughter couldn't drive a P pot threw a upstairs window, so she's out.
My Youngest is expecting in May so there is still hope.

Dusty if I am not mistaken the young lady that drove that Cavalier in KOTH will be driving part-time this year as well as doing KOTH in her AWD Subaru WRX, I am pretty sure she applied for her Nascar lic. at the drivers meeting

The chargers division was a great way for young drivers to get into the sport. It gave us 2 great little female drivers in the last two years. Drivers that are moving onto bigger and better things. I wonder if they would have been as successful if they hadn't had a division geared to getting your feet wet in the sport. The A division is very competitive with some drivers using intimidation on the track. Having a division where everyone is inexperienced allowed them to gain the confidence behind the wheel and learn the in's and out's of handling a race car on the track. Doing away with the chargers is not the answer to having a race nite ending at a decent hour. Having drivers on a track showing greater respect for each other is. The long waits while crews cleaned up pileups on the track because some decided to take out another driver is what caused the late nites. I believe this also led to some drivers just packing it in before the end of the season. Lets face it in all reallity the A division got a little out of hand with incidents on the track. New drivers coming into the sport need to fall in love with being on the track, not be scarded off the track cause someone got impatient with them... just my opinion

I will tell you this much...it is mroe fun racing 26 cars than 14...your heat cannot be a feature too....their hand was forced here...if outlaws take off around here this may be the transition and then the pure stock class is again a beguinner class...for now this will have to do because the counts wer were getting even 16 when everyone was there isn't good enough for a good ministock show....

Thayne, I agree with the 26 or 16. But look at 2009 not 2008.

We know that Brandon and Mike and you, are moving up. That leaves 13
Desi is going to TC also
Crystal, Brent, Drew, Billy, and Mike Burtoo are moving to "A" that makes 18
At the meeting I sat with a certain Purple VW driver, who said they were returning. And it is known that (after a cooling period) that Milligans crew will return. That makes 23
That's not a bad field. I know that nothing is written in stone, but I think, that if they had run the Chargers one more year and told everyone(from the start) that it would merge with the "A"s in 2010, it would be an easier pill to swallow.   JMO
