Title: Tiemersma Motorsports
Post by: Cosmo on November 05, 2006, 04:04:26 PM
Well this week I am happy to announce that another chapter begins in Tiemersma Motorsports. Derrick has purchased a Jeff Hanley super late model and plans on running the full Oscaar season. While brother Tony has bought Derricks car and we are now in the process of converting it over to a limited late model.

Derrick would like to thank Rick Way at Wayfreight for his support in this upcoming challenge.

With this its looks like another busy winter for the #7 crew and Derrick Tiemersma, we are happy to take on a new challenge and are looking forward to also seeing Tony in Derrick's car.

Thank You

We will have some photo's up next week of the car at www.tiemersmamotorsports.com

I have update both the www.tiemersmamotorsports.com page and the facebook page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6207569369 with pictures, news and classifieds.

For those of you looking for some deals on parts.  We have some new items, plus some items that have been sitting on the selves for the past season.  There is lots of good parts for sale, that we simply don't have a use for without a Late or Limited Late around anymore

Well the votes are in and tallied in Inside Track Motorsport News reader’s choice awards. I was able to finish 2nd in the voting for “Stock Car driver of the year” to the NASCAR Canadian Tire series champ Andrew Ranger. Congratulations to Andrew, his team and crew. This nomination alone was a great honor to me and my crew at Tiemersma Motorsports, I would like to thank the employee’s of ITMN for nominating me and I would like to give a big thank YOU the fans for voting for us.

In other exciting news

It is with great pleasure that Tiemersma Motorsports would like to announce a partnership between itself and GUNK Canada ( www.gunk.ca ) for the 2008 race season.  Gunk makes over 300 automotive products under many well-known and well-respected names, including Solder Seal®, Gunk®, Liquid Wrench®, Engine Brite®, Puncture Seal™ and Tite Seal™ to name a few.

The team and I look forward to our partnership with GUNK in the coming season and hope to bring their product to the forefront in the highly competitive OSCAAR racing series.

This past weekend Tiemersma Motorsports pulled into Sauble Speedway in hopes of a return to our winning form. With a beautiful sunny day ahead, the #7 Wayfreight was running in top form again.

During practice we made some minor suspension changes to the car and were able to get the car handling very well in time for the first set of heats. For the first heat Derrick would line the #7 up on the outside pole and would take the lead by the end of the first lap, eventually stretching his lead out and winning the first heat. In the second heat Derrick would line up on the back row, but would make it up to 5th by the end of the heat.

New for this season in OSCAAR is the lottery system for choosing the starting top eight cars. During this process the top eight drivers from the heats draw numbers out of a hat 1-8 to determine the starting order of the top eight drivers in the race. Once again the Tiemersma luck prevails, with only the 1st, 4th and 8th positions available for Derrick to pick. Derrick picked the 8th position.

During this time the crew was busy on the #7 car (while Derrick was picking his 8th starting spot) changing the rear end gears after we decided that we required a little more rpm out of the engine for the feature. We also decided to make adjustments to one of the shocks in order to tighten the car up a small amount for the feature.

Lining up 8th on the front stretch in front of a huge crown the #7 quickly started making positions and was quickly into the top 5 for most of the race. Most of the race Derrick and the #70 spent in the top 5 swapping positions as they moved up into the top 3. However as the race wore on the car’s handling began to tighten up too much for Derrick who began to lose ground to the top 2 cars and would have to fight hard to keep his 3rd position as he raced the #68 of Stu Robinson jr. for the last ten laps of the race.

As the checkered flag dropped Derrick finished 3rd bringing home our first podium of the season and a return to form for the Tiemersma Motorsports team.

This weekend Tiemersma Motorsports is active again as we race at Peterborough Speedway for the first of 3 times this summer.

Thank you for your support
