Top ten finish for Jeff Lapcevich at Mosport
Early struggles with cars keep teams from podium
BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO (June 17, 2007) –Driving the Tim Hortons - EMCEA Transport Fastline Motorsports entry, Jeff Lapcevich finished seventh in The Dickies 200 presented by Canadian Shield Anti-Crime race two in the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
"We struggled with the set-up all weekend and didn't get it right until after our second pit stop,” explained Jeff Lapcevich, who pilots the #23 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. “By then we were really fast but it was too little too late.” He started 12th in the 29-car grid.
The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event took place on the weekend at Mosport International Raceway, on the 2.5-mile, 10-turn road course in Bowmanville, Ontario.
Brother and Fastline teammate Jim Lapcevich had a disappointing weekend, mustering a 22nd-place finish driving the #25 EMCEA Transport – Tim Hortons Fastline Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
“The racing gremlins got us at the start of the race, the car wouldn’t fire and we got a lap down at the start of the race,” said Jim Lapcevich. “We were moving up in the field quickly and had to drop out on lap 41 with motor complications.”
Andrew Ranger won the Mosport International Raceway event over J.R. Fitzpatrick who placed second and Ron Beauchamp in third.
The next NASCAR Canadian Tire Series event of the season will take place Sunday, July 1 at Barrie Speedway in Barrie, Ontario on the third mile tri-oval.
