CYDP - Watson, B
« Reply #16 on: October 15, 2006, 09:33:51 PM »
For those of you that did not see our press release it outlined our racing program for the '07 season in the central Ontario region. The vice president of our Canadian Young Driver Program (CYDP) will have Brandon Watson once again running the full season at Barrie Speedway as well as invitionals at other tracks. If head office is as optimistic a year from now as they as now he will advance to LLM for '08 or head south for further testing. Regarding his father Tim Watson, as soon as negoiations are complete and his contract is signed he will running the OSCAR schedule with a new SLM car and as many invitionals as possible with his current LLM.
At this time I would like to thank all our loyal fans for their continued support as well as the full time and part time staff in our engine shop, frame shop and the great guys in the wind tunnel shop.
Thanks again,   Ken (deep pockets) Mackinnon

Ken l heard that after Tim tested at Chicago and Talledaga , you were approached by a new sponsor who is considering re opening the old barrie horse track as a  speedway is there any truth to the rumor.

I heard that Tim was testing a Toyota Cup car and that the new Red Bull team ( run by Marty Gaunt) was looking to sign him for next year. There was also stipulation in the contract that would make Brandon a driver-development driver for Toyota, with him getting into cup but 2010. Sounds like the Red Bull ride would have primary sponsorship from Ken MacKinnon Construction....

Any truth to that?

Well, maybe if we didn't have two seperate classes of late models, a fully fuctional touring series for crates and non-crates alike, tracks in close proximity that could cooperate, promoters who didnt step on everyone's toes at every opportunity, press that could actually be made to give a d***, and guys who didnt completely screw everything up and everyone over trying to take us "to the next level", then maybe it'd be something to look into...I swear, sometimes we're our own worst enemy....
EDIT: Good to know we don't have a swear filter on here...Ooops...

Yes there is, it's just not automatic.

Greasemonkey.

lol...no worries man..I completely agree, we are kiling ourselves. Every division in Ontario should fakll under one sanctioning body, not just home rules...jsut like in all other sports...then the competition is the same and the quality can be judged fairly. LLM an LM should be put together....jsut call them Late Model..the differences are so small and pointless neways..jsut enough to make a difference in the horsepower. I agree with Mopar...1 latemodel class and maybe a touring latemodel series would help...

I'd settle for a a gradual movement of bringing the late model classes together over a 2-4 year timeframe, and 1-2 years with the other main classes (modified, thunder car/street stock and 4-cylinder). Heck, I'd settle for some stopgap measures to get everyone equal. If it means having the promoters pick a track and sending 2 or 3 of their best for a massive testing session to see what would work and what wouldn't, so be it. The Weekend Warrior Series could almost do it, but ultimately it should fall on the promoters and their technical committes to figure it out and administer it. The dirt tracks appear to be able to work together, even if they are competing head-to-head, so why can't we? If we could do it, it'd be a heck of a lot easier to promote paved oval racing as a whole...

It is a little early to be making predictions about whos going to win next year, but i think that in...

4 Cyl - Brandon Crumbie is going to take it. He is an AMAZING driver, and I know for a fact that he will be going for that Championship next year. As far as I know, Tom Milligan doesn't want to move up to Thunder Car so he will not be wanting to win the championship.

Thunder Car - I would like to see Dave Doucette win it, and if not him, Frank Davey..

LLM - I would LOVE to see Gord Sheperd win the Championship! He is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite drivers.

well your predictions are quite good...i completely forgot about crumbie..him and his dad are great guys on and off the track and i have no doubt that brandon can bring one home this season!... as for dave doucette i heard rumour he is running sunset next season... gordie sheperd definitely a favorite to win the championship this upcoming season...but like i said dont be counting the 25 of john gaunt out...that is if he comes back to barrie next year...

Oh I'm not counting John Gaunt out...he is also one of my favs and he really does deserve the championship after he lost it 2 years in a row now. He so could have won it if he hadn't missed that one day. But Gord Sheperd is who I'd like to see win. Hm, I haven't heard that Dave is switching to Sunset...I'll have to ask Chrissy or Lisa next time I talk to them. Brandon and Dave are both great guys. Love watching them both race! and I really hope Brandon wins the Championship, thats what he wants before he moves up to Thunder Car.
