Andrew Ranger to NASCAR K&N East Pro Series
« on: April 25, 2010, 09:47:10 AM »
I'm surprised that no one hasn't already brought this up???

Anyway's the news went out Friday, Andrew our 2009 NCATS Champion is officially going to run the #35 Waste Management Chevy for the remainder of the season in the NASCAR K&N East Pro Series.

His first race will be Iowa where both the East/West guys will be running, so this will be a real test for him, not that he hasn't already run wth these guys already, but figuring out how to run the different tracks will probably be his biggest challenge.

I think he's doing things the right way, making the next step up the ladder and I wish him well. If he does well in this series, which I know he will, then the sky's the limit. This is his shot at recognition!

From what I understand he'll still be doing cameo appearances in the NCATS and his agent is working hard at getting him a ride in the Nationwide race in Montreal again this year.

No offense Randy but I don't think Mr Ranger has alot of fans on this board. I lost all respect for him after his tantrum with Kerry Micks in Quebec a couple of years ago . Most of the people I have talked with share that opinion.

We take all racing news here and yes not everyone is a fan of what is posted here but this is a racing site and everything gets posted.

I would have posted it but I guess I'm not on their press release mailings.

Whether we agree or disagree with what Andrew has done or not done in the past, we as Canadians need to support all of our Canadian racers.  Here is the perfect example of a Canadian racer working very hard to get noticed by the US series so they can advance and challenge themselves and show the Corporate US world that Canadians can do just as good a job as any other driver.  Just provide them with the right opportunity and let them show their skills and not just the amount of money they can bring to the table. Yes being able to bring money to the table helps monsterously but seriously its time to let the skills show through also.  All the best to Andrew racing in the East Pro Series and hopefully he makes a good showing.  This might actually have a positive effect on the NCATS series as more owners might start looking north to see if there is a development opportunity for them, sort of like KHI with Kale Gale last year.  Just my opinion but you never know until they try it.

What...like he was the first one that ever got annoyed at Micks? Come on.

Sure, Micks has had his moments, I don't recall him throwing a water bottle at anybody being interviewed on tv  in victory lane tho. I wish Ranger well in the US, he is talented no doubt. I , and others , just don't have much respect for him is all.

A brief story, I was up in the spotters stand with Susan Micks,  Andrew and Kerry were starting next to one another this particular day last year. She told me that Kerry preferred to run with Andrew because he knew what to expect from him, now I would say that's respect amongst drivers. She went on to tell me a little story how Kerry had some fun with Andrew a few races prior, banging on his bumper.

I agree with DWfan that this has to have a positive effect on our Series, and I think it's already shown what the brand NASCAR is doing for our sport up here. I was at the banquet in Concord last fall and the NCATS Championship team was front row and center. And for Andrew to be invited to Toyota Speedway in Irwindale was huge!

And I think that this is just awesome, that Andrew picked up this ride on his own merit and hopefully he'll pave the way for many more young Canadian drivers to make it into the upper series in NASCAR.

Like him or hate him Duken, I think we all have to agree, this kid's got what it takes to make it, he's the real deal, and I'll tell you, I was a proud Canadian that day last Aug when Andrew finished 3'rd in the Nationwide race battling with the likes of Carl Edwards, Marcos Ambrose & Kyle Busch all afternoon.

I've had the opportunity to see Andrew both in and out of the car, I've seen his sincere compassion with the sick kids on the Victory Lap Tour and I've seen his fierce competitive spirit when strapped in a race car and I for one have nothing but the greatest of respect for him because of this.
