NO to ACT- All the drivers are leaving because....
Either retiring from racing.
Leaving because of Sponsorship problems.
Or leaving because of the high price of racing in the Nascar CTS deal.

If you look on the nascar.ca site you can download the earnings to date.
Scott Steckley is the winningest Driver in the series and currently the leader in points but his earnings barely cover 1/3 of what he has spent so far this year.
In any form of racing- this is a joke - and racers can only spend so much money before they are broke.

Isn't Peter Gibbons rumoured to be one of them?

Very sad news to hear considering the level of competition in just 2 seasons has gone up.  The racing has been incredible to watch but we fans only see what happens on the track and not what goes on in the pocketbooks.

Guess the news of Todd Nichol joining full time next year might change based on the number of cars leaving.

Okay- I can say it now as I just received the press release from Gibbons Motorsports.
Peter Gibbons is 100 % done with the Nascar deal after Kawartha.

And I can also give you some tips as I have received the okay from some drivers that are also announcing their done at Kawartha.
From this list you can say 6 to 8 are done for sure, and more.

Peter Gibbons
Don Thomson
Andrew Ranger
Dave Witlock
Mark Dilley
Ron Beachaump
DJ Kennington
Jim Lapcievich
Jeff Lapcievich
Dave Connelly

The announcements will follow, some prior to Kawartha as with guys like Gibbons, and others at Kawartha. Based on the fact that NCTS has 20 full time Teams the number will drop to 10 Teams left. This is a major set back in Canadian Racing and will never happen again, as the Series that was supposed to set the country on fire, has lit up about as much light as a match stick.

With maybe 10 full time cars left, this series will be lucky to take the green in 2009 and should be a warning to everyone that was expecting this thing to take off.
Instead of making this series a shinning star, which it was when it was under the control of Cascar- it has cost a bunch of racers allot of money and time waisted, thanks to the cash grabbing fools of the south- NASCAR.

Man I hated writing this- but it's only fare that everyone gets fare warning.

OK so how is this to be true if Dave and Mark have one year left on their contracts? If they retire is it like in hockey the contracts end or do they drive somewhere else.

Well you can see DJ is doing stuff in NASCAR Nationwide and Ranger will most likely have something going in the NASCAR Elite leagues, As for the rest I'm not sure where or what they would want to do or go.

Being a bit harsh on NASCAR for this. It seems obvious to me that sponsorship is the issue here. I don't know a series out there that you can use prize money from exclusively to run. Please name one..

We are in a depression folks (yes depression not recession). Its only logical that motorsport will financially fail in a time when even the worlds largest financial institutions are in trouble

B.A.R. I would like to know where you get your info, regarding the number of drivers leaving. You are full of crap and totally mis-informed. What proof do you have?

In regards to the amount of money it costs to run a season versus the amount of money won. How much does a top NCATS team receive in annual sponsorship money? Racers will always race, always have regardless of whether or not they are making money. That being said, if a top team is being paid $200,000.00 - $300,000.00 by a sponsor to run a year, that will cover their expenses, and the purse is then bonus money.

Okay let me explain.
First off I said 6 Drivers were leaving..I listed 10..that means 4 of them are staying.
I also said I could not mention their names at this time.
I did give you Gibbons as one once I received the press release from them.

Am I being harsh on Nascar- YES- because they have the money- millions- coming in from the sponsors of this series and don't reinvest it back into the purse, where it could save or at least help out the Teams.

Are my sources good ones- YES- right from the horses mouth !!

As for the cost to run in this series up front - its about $400,000.00 per year, and even if the races paid $10,000.00 to win- times 16 races- that's $160,000.00.
No shit you cant make it on purse money but keep in mind that the sponsorships for this series are around $100,000.00 dollars- MAX- Average !! Bigger purses would help 100%.

I announced yesterday that Nascar was putting $10,000.00 in for every race for every car and I was happy to make that call, but my informant had it wrong and it was supposed to be announced that it was $10,000 for the year- for the series.
That ticked me off !!
I support Nascar, but now it's come down to playing dirty and I don't like where this is going.
Can you say ALL Pro Series ??

I knew Gibbons was retiring. I wondering if Canadian Tire will sponsor another car.

I could tell you that, but they are trying to do something different, which if successful will benefit everyone, not just a single car.
As well, they are also looking outside the box as far as marketing, so don't hold you breath on any quick answers as they are seeking opportunities that will enhance their marketing strategies and better their sponsorship profiles to the Customers and Suppliers.

Crappied Tire is going to be more worried about bailing their sagging sales, that trying to help race teams. When you don't have customers because no one has money, you don't care about advertising. Want to bet that Canadian Tire pulled or drastically reduced Gibbon's sponsorship? The purses have never been big, the only reason a team like that existed was due to sponsorship. Never was the purse, never will be the purse, makes no business sence. So now to get this right, you expect the company, that most likely cut him to reduced their expenses, to suddenly turn around and "sponsor" all teams with a bigger purse?

NASCAR is about making money. They make their money selling advertising from sponsors. If the series is not attracting sponsors which its not, why would they invest more money in it? Not going to happen. You don't make it in business being a nice guy.
