FATHER’S DAY FUN LEADS TO CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS

Fans  in attendance at the Hotch’s Auto Parts 200 Lap Father’s Day Endurance Race on Sunday, June 21st, may have been a little damp, but were not disappointed ,to see veteran Brighton Speedway drivers Mike Cross, Clayton Pederson and Kyle Sopaz take the top 3 positions in the 54 car field.  The twisted metal carnage, and dirt flying, action packed, endurance race was full of opportunities for veterans and rookies alike to attack the 1/3 mile clay oval in the quest for the coveted checker flag.

Brighton Speedway regular drivers are questing for the big prize with more laps and double points, when the Brighton Automotive Canada Day Championships hit the track on Saturday, June 27th.  Starting with Time Trials at 5:00pm, the battle for qualifier starting position means that the fastest lap in each class will sit on the Pole in their respective heat.

The night promises to be full of excitement as the Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modified leader is only ahead by 105 points.  Andrew Hennessey, #87 of Picton, and last year’s Champion, is playing second fiddle to local favourite Jeff Sallans , #72 of Glen Miller.  Kraig Handley,#91 also of Picton, is currently sitting second place, by only 25 points, behind Doug Anderson #72 of Trenton.   Hoping to maintain their leads are Kyle Sopaz, #12 from Carrying Place, in his Bill’s Johns Comp 4 and Sean Johnson #15 of Wolfe Island, in his Picture This Pure Stock.  Both current point leaders are only ahead by 165 and 70 points respectively, and know that the drivers in their classes will be hungry for the wins with the double points at stake.  Added to the FAB FOUR are the Quinte Towing Stingers, who will race a 15 lap feature, and hope that no one puts a claim on their vehicle.

“We are almost halfway through the season, and we like to add a little more of a challenge for the drivers and some fun for the fans.  We can do both while we celebrate Canada Day as a race track family.  It doesn’t get much better than the show will be on the 27th,” said track personality and Announcer, Tim Whitehead.

In celebration of Canada Day Mystical Distributing will present Fireworks , Brighton Automotive Fan Appreciation will have drivers and fans meeting and greeting, and the Pro Stock Mechanics race will round out an action packed evening of dirt flying, racing action on the 1/3 mile clay oval.  For even more fan fun it is Bumper Sticker Prize Night and vehicles in the lot with a Brighton Speedway bumper sticker have a chance to win some great prizes. Time Trials start at 5:00pm, pit gates open at 3:00pm, and grandstands at 4:00pm.  Green Flag flies at 7:00pm.
