A Moose On The Loose At Full Throttle
« on: July 27, 2014, 08:21:44 PM »
Varney, On-  Full Throttle Speedway had an unexpected guest for racing action Friday night in fact a whole team of them, Moose Racing from Edmonton Alberta dropped in to take part in the racing action.  The Pure Stock race team is doing a tour of race tracks in Ontario and wanted to try the highbanks and fast racing action which Full Throttle is known for.  In addition to taking part in the racing action they also had their car on display in front of the grandstand at intermission for kids to sign along with handing out free T-shirts to all kids in attendance.

In Pure Stock action feature one 01 Travis Farrow from Dromore took full advantage of his pole starting position.  He was able to hold off all attempts from 43 Joey Schouten from Mount Forest during the first half of the race, and in the dying laps of the race it was 17 Nick Clarke from Mount Forest in his rear view mirror.  At the checker it was Farrow, Clarke, Schouten with fourth going to 14 Luke Bos from Conn and rounding out the top five was 29 Rob Fountain from Edmonton Alberta.  Feature two of the night saw more clean fast racing out of the Pure Stock drivers and this time it would be 17 Nick Clarke returning to his winning ways of the past.  Second would go to 14 Luke Bos, third 01 Travis Farrow, fourth 43 Joey Schouten and fifth 34 Don Tremble from Durham.

Mini Stock saw an increase in car counts this week with increased payouts on the line.  Fans got to see some outstanding Mini Stock action, with 3 out of the top 10 ranked drivers in the province in the line up you know it is going to be great racing action!  In feature one the fans weren’t disappointed.  Even though any driver in this field could take their car to victory lane the main contenders would find themselves starting mid pack.  From the drop of the green 68 Brandon Crumbie from Cookstown would improve on his fifth place starting position bring along 36 Corry Young out of Owen Sound with him.  Then a lap thirteen caution would set the front row for the run to the finish with 68 Brandon Crumbie on the inside and 36 Corry Young on the outside, all the rest of the field could do was watch as these two took off with Young gaining the advantage on the high side.  At the finish it would be Young, Crumbie followed by 7 Paul Boyd from Harriston, fourth would go to 64 Dave Crumbie from Cookstown and rounding out the top five would be 06 Ryan Hardy from Markdale.  Feature two started with a first lap stack up of cars in corner four as the third place running car 06 Ryan Hardy got into the second place car 73 Kyle Woods collecting almost the entire field.  Luckily everyone only suffered cosmetic damage with the exception of 9 Tessa Cremasco from Mount Forest who had her car almost stand on it’s nose after being hit by 35 Tim Tolton. Check out the video here http://youtu.be/eP2_i8-pyy4   On the restart 51 Clark Hartman from Waterloo jumped out in front of the field and use lap traffic to his advantage as he and 36 Corry Young would drive their way through the field with 7 Paul Boyd in hot pursuit. As the white flag came out Hartman would have to use every trick in his book to hold off 36 Young as he made one last dive inside coming to the checker but it was not enough.  It would be Hartman, Young, Boyd then 68 Brandon Crumbie for fourth and rounding out the top five 35 Tim Tolton from Guelph.

V8 Thunder Stock action also saw some new cars this week as they would test driver and machine running three twenty lap features.  In feature one 27 Mark Fenton from Tiverton would take advantage of his pole starting position and build a good lead on the rest of the field.  The main battle in this race was for the second position between 17 Tristan Gill of Waterloo and 18 Terry Pardy of Mount Forest along with 277 Ray Flynn from Clinton.  In the end it would be Gill for second, Pardy for third, Flynn for fourth and rounding out the top five was 05 Steve Brook from Hillsburgh.  Check out the video of this race at http://youtu.be/mcQP7nmimV0  Feature two saw fast runner Fenton on the trailer with transmission trouble dashing his hopes of being another three feature winner this season.  This race was again all about starting position as pole sitter 17 Tristan Gill would take this race flag to flag in another great run.  Close behind was 55 Scott Field from Hepworth who was busy working bugs out of his car which caused him an early exit from feature one.  Third this time would go to 277 Ray Flynn, fourth 18 Terry Pardy with fifth going to 05 Steve Brook.  In the third and final feature pole advantage did not work out for 05 Steve Brook and with a lap eight caution for a spin the field would reset with 55 Scott Field and 17 Tristan Gill on the front row and these two would battle inside and outside for the remainder of the race working through lap traffic.  In the end the young gun from Waterloo just came up short to the veteran from Hepworth as it was Field, Gill followed by 18 Terry Pardy, fourth went to 277 Ray Flynn and fifth 5 Dave Grey Jr out of Hanover.

Train action this week had a first never witnessed before a tie at the finish.  With it being to close to call both teams decided to have the winner decided in train stay, best burn out wins.  Once it was over it was Texas Traincar Massacre from Mount Forest by a burn out over Rockford Rednecks, third was Jonathon Bates Roofing from Owen Sound and rounding out the field Here We Go from Listowel.  For feature two Rockford Rednecks held nothing back as they built up a good lead on the field on way to the checker followed by Texas Traincar Massacre, third was Jonathon Bates Roofing.

Next racing action will be this Friday Aug 1st for MILITARY NIGHT with Pro Late Models, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks for a $1000 to-win bonus if one driver can win all three features plus Crazy Trains!  Also don’t forget it is the 1st Annual “Portraits of Honour” 2014 International Motorcycle Jamboree on Aug 2nd and 3rd with show and shine, swap meet, Legends Tributes both Saturday and Sunday afternoon with Elvis, John Denver, Bruno Mars and Tim McGraw along with seven bands performing from noon to late both days.  The cost for the entire weekend (racing plus shows and camping) is just $20.00 per person for full details check out the web site at www.fullthrottlemotorspeedway.com
