Over the last couple of days these posts about safety, emergency crews etc. at the track have been getting a little heated.
The "he said, I heard, I saw, I think this is what happened" stuff is going create a whole lot more drama that we really don't need.
Wes has joined the site and started commenting on some of the post which really in my opinion is not in his best intrest, he has been called out publicly to defend himself against allegations of inadequate emergency staff, amongst other things and if you really think about it no matter how he responds on here if he chooses to is it really going to do the track any good?
Personally as a business owner I would not want to have to publicly defend any descisions I had to make in a hot situation where peoples safety is at risk on a Public forum, it is really not the place for it.
Now we have some additional posts about people not getting medical attention and based on hearsay and speculation this person is canvasing insurance companies to see if the way things were handled is legal, and then goes on to question whether or not the track is insured, I mean come on when is this BS going to stop.
I am quite certain with the Emergency crews in attendance on Saturday night that people who need to fill out reports and question the safety standards and insurance coverage at the track are already on the case.
Bottom line here folks is Wes owns the track, like it or not he had the coin to buck up and take it on, none of us did, and agree or disagree with the way he handles things he still provides us with a place to race for the time being.
If we really want to preserve that we have a couple options, 1 come up with the money and buy him out and run things anyway you want, 2, In the best intrest of our Saturday nights try backing the guy up where you can even if it is as simple as choosing not to perpetuating more BS on the internet by adding more I heards and he saids.
Now I am not disagreeing with valid concerns for safety and the well being of the drivers, but how of much of this crap do you think Wes is going to want to put up with?
Whats stopping him from saying F'it and shutting down the whole show and running touring series through there that bring their own Safety crews and officials, would probably still draw a crowd and he wouldn't have to deal with all this.
If we really give a schitt about the track we need to try and help one another out or we will have nothing.
The media reads these forums, Sponsors read them and who knows who else, regardless of how you feel about the current ownership and his descisions or the rumours that get started about them, trying to drag the guy in here for a public stoneing is only going to hurt the track and everybody who drives there.
Even if some of the statements made about the way things were handled or remarks on how they should be handled have some merit, you may think posting them in here will somehow bring some sought after justice to your cause but it wont, it is going to reflect badly on the track, the sponsors and inevitably all of us.
Short track racing is treading on thin ice as it is in some areas trying to draw crowds and cars, self-righteous public rants will bring and end to it as quick as anything else.
If you think about the time and effort we put into our hobby just get out once a week it isn't worth anything if we have nowhere to go, we need to put some effort into trying to preserve that.
