Robert Delormier gets biggest career win in Race for the Cure Series in Cornwall!

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, August 8, 2016 – Martin Bélanger – The Race for the Cure Sportsman Series was on hand tonight for their second round as they had a 100-lap event along with the first visit of the Mini-Mod of Quebec plus a complete race program on Seaway GM.

Felix Murray led the way in the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series feature as Robert Delormier and Shane Pecore were running in the top 3. Mikael Richard spun in turn 4 and caution was out on lap 8. Murray still your leader on the restart with Delormier and Pecore. Murray had some company in lead as the yellow was back out on lap 18. Pecore found something on the top side as he passed Murray for the lead just before caution came out on lap 34. Pecore got a good start at Gilles Godard challenged Murray for second spot for several laps. Pecore worked his way into the lap traffic as the event hit the halfway point with Delormier and Felix Murray the top 3. Delormier got closer to Pecore with slower cars in factor, Delormier was able to take the lead on lap 67 over Pecore. As the race picked up momentum, Pecore charged back on lap 76 and retook the top spot. A few restarts in the final 15 laps had some position changes in the top five with Givogue challenging for the top spot as Martin Pelletier made his way into the top 5. Delormier led the final laps as Pelletier made his way to third. Delormier collected his biggest race of his career over Tyler Givogue and Pelletier

Marc Therrien led the way in the 30-lap Bandit Motorsports event as Brian McDonald made his way to the lead on lap 5. McDonald still in the lead as a lap 9 restart saw Tim O’Brien and Corey Wheeler joining the top 3. Wheeler slipped by O’Brien for second on lap 12. McDonald was strong in front as Wheeler was able to get closer in the final portion of the event but McDonald was able to resist and captures his first win of the season over Wheeler and Stéphane Lafrance came in a strong third.

The Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature saw Rock Aubin as the early leader but got quickly challenge by Dave Bissonnette running the top lane. The first 8 laps ran smoothly with CD Beauchamp stopping in turn 2 and caution was out. Aubin still in the lead as Ghislain Valade made his way to second over Bissonnette. Aubin led the final laps and went on to win his third event of the season over Bissonnette and George Renaud making a final charge to get the third spot.

Alexis Charbonneau led wire to wire in the 12-lap Polar Sound DJ Services as he resisted to a few cautions and was able to capture his second win of the season over Mike Gaucher and Bob Ray. Unfortunately for Charbonneau, he was found illegal at post race inspection.

Patrick Lapolice won the 20-lap Mini-Mod of Quebec feature, as they were in their first visit at the speedway.

Next week the Modifieds will have the DIRTcar regional series with 50-lap event counting for a Super DIRT Week qualifier. The Lightning Sprints will make their second visit of the season along with the Sportsman Dash for Cash and a complete race program with the Mini-Stock having a night off.
