Busch in Montreal in 2007? (http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/news_story.asp?id=130793) Good for Quebec, not to good for Ontario!
Here I was thinking NASCAR was leaning towards Mosport? Come on Ontario fans, let NASCAR CEO George Pyne know your views!
Myself, I was thinking they could run either CASCAR (hopefully NASCAR buys them out) or NCTS on the 1/2 mile oval at Mosport while Busch runs on the road course, and make a big weekend out of it!

Great idea auto, besides, i thought the race was comming to Canada, not quebec? Cmon outsider, you guys need a checkmark in the calgary slot lol.

That wouldnt be good if they went to Quebec.... I can just see the headlines:
"50+ NASCAR haulers stolen in Canada... Canadians are now considered A-Holes"
Now that just wouldn't look good on Canada because they'd blame it on the whole country rather than just Quebec. haha

if it has to be a road course, Mosport for sure. The Villeneuve track in Mtl is way too tight for anything but formula cars. It would be easy to bring in all the portable seating from the Molson Indy to Mosport. Too bad that the big grandstands at Mosport on the front straight and at the top of the Andretti straight were never replaced after being condemned and torn down back in the Harvey Hudes era. (remember Harvey's famous statement that they tore the grandstands down so fans could see better--never admitting they were too broke to fix them)
I'm surprised they haven't thought about adding a Busch North event to an exisiting race weekend in recent years. That series is down to about 15 races. I think they lost their Watkins Glen race and just have Lime Rock Park on their road racing part of the schedule. People seem to forget that we used to have this series predecessor (Nascar North) run at Cayuga, Little Sanair, and various Quebec tracks before Tom Curley got the boot and formed ACT. I love Calgary but the track barely gets 4500 people for a Cascar race and Race City can't hold much more than 7000, maybe double if portables were set up on the back straight.
Perhaps it would make sense to invest $$$$ into Sanair which is almost a mile oval, but needs much investment in the physical plant to bring it up to current standards. This might be the most logical oval available.

one strike against Mosport is that Mosport owner Don Panoz is highly affiliated with the American Lemans Series. Their biggest rival in sports car racing in North America (The Grand Am Series-- that runs the "Daytona" Prototypes --those look alike rear engine cars which are barely faster than the GT Porsches they compete with) is owned by International Speedway Corp, in other words Nascar. Wonder if they'll force Panoz to take a Grand Am race as part of the conditions to get a Busch Race?

Mosport would be the only place I would say as the road course could support the fans of nascar. The question should be do we want busch or cup cars here?

i don't think it is a matter of what we want. more likely what is Nascar willing to allow us. And i agree, Mosport is probably our best venue. Although, Kawartha and Cayuga would be much better.

Cayuga would be awesome, bring CASCAR for a Friday, NCTS Saturday & Busch Sunday! The place would be packed!
How many seats do you think they could provide including portables for Cayuga?

I'd like to see them at Delaware, after all, it is a Nascar sanctioned track.

I was looking at Sanair's website and it appears both ovals (the 1/3 mile and the 9/10 mile tri-oval are still there). There is an excellent aerial photos available and you can click on the photo for further detail of the tri-oval. Remember CART actually ran at Sanair. Any Ontario oval is simply too small as there comes a breaking point as to what people will pay for the purses demanded. Cayuga needs an awful lot of work, Delaware needs paving badly and geography probably limits it to 12,000 people even with portable grandstands on the back straight. Cup in Canada is a pipe dream as we now have American tracks sueing Nascar regarding not getting dates. There are simply not enough open weekends to even consider Cup. It's noticable too how Busch has deserted the small tracks in the states-Hickory, Martinsville, etc to become the side show on Saturdays of Cup Weekends at Super Speedways. They now let the Trucks do the crash and bash at the smaller tracks. Maybe thats the bone (the trucks) they'll throw Canada and TSN and Banned Word/Site will continue to brain wash the great unwashed mob that Nascrap is the best racing around. Sorry for sounding bitter, but as a race fan of 40 years, the more commercial Nascar has gotten, the worse the racing has been--races won in the pits rather than the track, corporate favourites, and the killing of local short track racing by all the Saturday night televised shows

Did you happen to attend the LMS race at SANAIR, Racer? I just browsed thru that site rather hastily, so that's where all the St. Eustache Sportsman drivers ended up eh? Looks like a decent series, I was wondering why only 1 Quebec car, when the CASCAR SS was at St. Eustache this year? That explains the crowd too, as the LMS were running that weekend too! Humm?
Wasn't there some talk of CASCAR racing there this year also, on this board last winter?
Looks like with some TLC, this could be a nice facility as well!

Jimmie Johnson was in a meeting, in Toronto, on Monday to discuss the possibility of NASCAR in Canada. Jimmie would personally love to see a race up here knowing how many true NASCAR fans there actually are in Canada.

I would like to see the trucks at either Delaware or Cayuga. Busch on the road at Mosport.

I think that the trucks are a bit to fast for Delaware....After seeing some of the ARCA trucks there last night I dont know. I seen the Trucks at MIS in June and they are really fast and like small tracks...although MIS is the biggest they have been to. To get 30 of them out on Delawares Track...I just dont see it happening. As for the Cup and Busch Cars it looks more and more like Montreal is going to get a race for them.

I would be happy with an ARCA race at somewhere like Delaware or Cayuga. I don't think the trucks would come to Delaware, due to the dual pitroads, but who knows. I'd even be interested in a ASA LM or Pro Cup race there....
