Tillsonburg Outlaw Update
Submitted by Chesterman Power Products/www.chesterman.ca

" The Indoor pits were packed as Tillsonburg Outlaws gathered to avoid the heavy rain that Southern Ontario was receiving Tuesday May 11th. Luckily there was room for the Outlaw Karts and their drivers. Other than the outside being cold and wet the racing was hot and dry as always.

Firstl, welcome new members/racers # 52 Beg Jacob Sheridon/ Mt Brydges, # 0 Beg Cole MacDonald/ Mississauga and # 37 Sr Scott Kelly/Stratford. All three slid into action nicely and will soon be giving some of the leaders a run for their money.

Beg    #48 Andrew Marshall/ Dorchester made his Beginner farewell race count as he took 1st in all three races for overall this week. Andrew is ready to fit into the more competitive Junior group after only two nights in his new kart. Running second in each race was rookie Jacob Sheridon who used his debut to get comfortable quickly and run some great laps while under constant pressure from #55 Scott Hall/Wilsonville who finished third on the night.

JR    This winter I forecast this class had some new heat moving into it and they were female. Well the first sprint the girls took 1-2-3 as # 93 Amber Meyer/Tillsonburg grabbed her first win followed by # 77 Alex Hill/Wilsonville and # 8 Hannah Ferrell/ Windham Center. Not to be outdone, Last years champ # 20 DJ McRae/London took the final race win which ensured he got a top three for night. The racing in this class is so intense that when the leaders of the 10 lap sprint caught up to a lapper at the finish line no one backed down and the resulting chaos left DJ McRae on his lid and  Alex Hill out for the night after testing our new exit wall. 3 JR races and we had 3 different winners. I think every racer in this group is going to end up with a win at some point this season. The class is that close. Race wins went to Amber Meyer, Hannah Ferrell, DJ McRae

SR    #5 Conor Mahoney/Hamilton got his first overall of the season as he narrowly beat out #19 Cody Coburn/Mt Brydges in points this week. #79 Bea Courtnage/Harley took a win and a 2nd which was enough to tie for third with # 9 Dustin Churcher/Tillsonburg. It looks as though it is no longer possible to go from the back of the field for a win in the 10 lap sprint which means next week will likely see some new names listed in the top 3. Race ins went to Bea Courtnage, Conor Mahoney, Cody Coburn

EXPERT    # 34 Scott Chesterman/Langton took the time trial win with a 8 second lap. In the feature # 1 Holly Porter looked to have the 30 lap main in the bag when she pulled over with a derailed chain resulting from a loose motor. Oh oh, Holly tightened her own engine so no one else to blame. That left # 7 Dave Chesterman to inherit 2nd for the race and the night.

After two weeks of racing the battles are already starting to shape up. Stay tuned to see who comes out on top next week."

Everything everywhere was cancelled. The weather in Ontario was terrible. Non the less, the racing in Tillsonburg was great May 11 2010.

11 races over the night and 8 different winners.

The transponder system is so much easier to keep track of the racers. We just need to stop putting improper settings in so the night can start smoothly but we will figure it out sooner or later.

The beginners are getting so fast so quick in the QRC's that I am not sure how we are going to handle this long term. We need this group for the youngest of racers to learn how to drive and follow the program but their speed is developing first without really getting a lot of seat time. We will follow this as the season develops.

What can you say about the Junior class? WOW. Times that are rivalling the Seniors. Action so close that it is anyones guess who can get out front and a handicapping system that is making sure the points leaders start every race at a disadvantage by being put to the back of the grid. # 87 Brad Perrott has been improving dramatically this season and has a trick up his sleeve for next week that is going to give the rest of the field some grief. And what about #51 Matt Anderson? This guy was hiding out last year not wanting to race and in only two weeks is already pressing up into the top three. Amber Meyer is looking more comfortable in her QRC with each race. Alex Hill is always right there if she could just keep out of trouble. For sure DJ McRae and Hannah Ferrell will always be at or near the front. There just is not anyone slow in this class.

The Senior group look like they have their hands full trying to knock back # 19 Cody Coburn but anyone in the group should be able to get him on a particular night. #5 Conor Mahoney managed it this week. Will they be able to win often enough to take top spot ? Time will tell. #10 Blake Westman and # 39 Kate Courtnage both had mechanical problems this week costing them valueable points but moves them to the front of the grid next week. Will that be the break they need to win their first races?

The Expert division had a couple of extra drivers this week that are trying to be ready for the Summer Series. Cody Coburn and Devin Jarvis ran a pair of Honda CR250 powered QRC's. That meant double duty as they both race in the Seniors as well. Both proved they could run some fast times but it was Cody that showed he was pretty well on the pace right from the get go. At nights end it was #34 Scott Chesterman going 1-1 with times that are just plain fast.

See you Tuesday.

This weeks 10 Lap Sprint winners.

#48 Beginner Andrew Marshall-  # 93 Junior Amber Meyer-  Senior # 79 Bea Courtnage

Must be the girls are faster than the guys?
