HEATHER’S HEROS BECOMES OFFICIAL CHARITABLE INITIATIVE OF THE TOYO TIRES F1600 SERIES

Series’ Reach and Events Used to Raise Funds for Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation

TORONTO, ON (July 15, 2014) – Move Motorsports Management (Canadian formula car series promoters) and Douglas Kurtin, President of CPS Flooring and founder of the Heather’s Heros initiative jointly announced today a partnership with the popular Toyo Tires F1600 Championship.

The partnership will provide numerous outlets to raise awareness of the fight to end cancer as well as the development of a number of charitable fundraising initiatives to benefit the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

“We are excited to partner up with the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Series, its fans and its competitor base,” stated founder Douglas Kurtin. “The Heather’s Heros idea was spawned from the courage my wife, Heather, continues to display while fighting the disease over the last 6 years. To date we have raised over $131,000.00 through our road hockey team, my vintage racing and most recently the Ride to Conquer Cancer benefitting Princess Margaret Hospital. The F1600 folks are an enthusiastic and creative bunch so I look forward to working closely with them,” he added.

The Heather’s Heros logo will be present in all series channels. Additionally series management and competitors will create a number of motorsport-centric events to raise funds for the charity.

"We are very pleased to name Heather’s Heros as our Official Charitable Initiative,” stated Jason Sharpe, Promoter of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship. “I have come to know Doug through his very successful vintage racing program. His passion for his wife and her courage comes through very clearly from the very first time you meet him, and the enthusiasm he has for doing good is infectious so we are thrilled to be a part of it."

Further announcements will be made as fundraising initiatives come online with specific information about how fans can become involved.

The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship, sanctioned by CASC – Ontario Region, is the premiere open wheel road racing series based in Ontario. It features technologically advanced formula cars powered by the modern Honda Fit engine and the traditional Ford 1600cc “Kent” engine, close wheel-to-wheel action and is recognized as the ultimate place to launch a young driver’s racing career. The Series competes at world-class facilities including Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Calabogie Motorsport Park and will be showcased at the 2014 Honda Indy Toronto.
