The Cayuga schedule shows the Auto Value 410 sprint cars running the same night  Sept 15 (!) as the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals, 20 minutes away at Oshweken. I acknowlege one is paved, one is dirt, but sprint car fans would likely attend both if they were on separate nights! Man what a lack of forsight!

Race tracks have to look out for their own best interests just like any other business. The Canadian racing season is a relatively short one, and there are only so many weekends available. They all have to work with the schedules of traveling series as well as there own regular racing season (where applicable). Race track promoters and race series organizers have almost never worked together (it would be impossible to make everyone happy anyway). As race fans, we just have to choose which races we want to attend. It's always been this way and probably always will. Too many races to choose from isn't the worst problem to have.

no, but the ever dwindling fan base is something they might have to consider. Fans will now have to choose and I can see Cayuga losing. Likely 85 360s at Oshweken and 18-20 410s at Cayuga will be a major contributing factor as to where one goes.  A natural would have been to have the Cayuga Auto Value show on the Sunday, the day after the CSCN.l.
I would likely go to Cayuga had it been on another day. And Hurricane7, to boycott Oshweken because they're not having the ODLM late models back is comparing apples and oranges (or in the ODLM case I guess yellows!)

Did anyone ever think that Cayuga is going to be run during the day and then everyone can go to the Nats....???......Did anyone think that this might be the plan between both tracks....????

That's what we used to do when the CASCAR show was at Cayuga, We'd camp at Cayuga, run over to Ohsweken Friday night and catch the racing at Cayuga Saturday & Sunday.

So, that would be a good deal, if they raced during the day, then everyone could catch the Nats later. I sure hope the NCTS has't got anything planned that weekend, I've missed the last 2 shows, because CASCAR raced at Kawartha!

Cayuga is trying to make an attempt at making that weekend a Sprint Car multy show by running one show in the afternoon at one track and another show at night at the other track.
WHY ? CAR COUNT
Most Sprint car teams carry both an ashpalt car and a dirt car when going on the road, so what they are trying to do is make it easy on the race teams by running 2 different events within reach of each other, therefore making it easy for the Sprint car teams to justify the expence for travel, therefore making the feilds at both events full starting line ups.
A pretty smart move if you ask me by both track promoters.

Dave-the Auto Value cars are 410s-the Oshweken race is for 360s and there is zero cross over between groups. Different chassis, shocks, you name it. And by the time the Cayuga show is finished, there won't be any seats left at Oshweken. Would have made a great Saturday - Sunday deal but promoters know better, right?

Okay I read Dave's post yeasterday and  it only took until now to pick myself up off the floor long enough to log back on the computer.  Having worked on a dirt sprint car and also an asphalt car and knowing people in the SOS, SOD, AVSS, Sandusky sprints I can tell you that the only teams that have one of each and travel with both are the USAC teams and beleive me when I say that there isn't anything up here that pays like they do.  That's like saying that all (insert local ontario track) racers carry three cars with spares and have million dollar haulers trust me this isn't the case.  Dave you truly don't know beans about open wheel racing I suggest you put your fenders back on and stay in the nascar we'll stick our heads in the stands racing series.

Hey guys, I think I know the differance between the 2 series and the differance in the chassis, motors and rules. Just for your information, fender racing is new to us as we have only been racing fenders for the past 5 years.
Before that we ran in the Indy Racing League (IRL) and they did not have fenders.
Before that we ran in the USAC Silver Crown Series, and guess what- no fenders.
I started in Atlantics, and again they did not have fenders either.
Sprint Car racing is a way of life when you do it for a living, and racing is what I do for living.
When we are loading up for a road trip and know there is other races close by paying good money we would load up what ever type of chassis, motor, and race parts we needed to run all the shows we could take in well on the road. That is what you do when Sprint Car racing is your life.
Loading up our IRL trailer would mean a Short track/road corse configuration car and a Super Speedway car, along with 4 motors and tooling. That cost would be in the millions as you said...
But when we loaded up our Sprint Car trailer we could load a Ashpalt Car, a Dirt Car, 4 different motor configurations, a bunch of different body parts and wings for less then $300,000.00.
Pick yourself up off the floor- take a whole wack of medication and call your doctor in the morning.
Your Doctor will tell you, think before you speak... it will make you sound much more experanced when it comes to racing.
The Sprint Car racers across North America travel and race for the money and they do it very smartley by taking what they need to compete on the road. That is how it is done when you race and travel for a living.
If you run the 410 class, or a midget class, or the 360 class and have only one car then thats what you do, but for the guys coming in here to run 2 different events on the same day and they are traveling teams, you bring what you need as this is a pure profit deal with regards to travel cost in racing.
I hope I didnt hurt your feelings, but man.... wake up, and if you want to buy some fenders to lean on so you sound like a racer I am sure we can arrange it.

No offence to the two races up here but nobody who is racing for a living with USAC type equipment will be coming up here for either of these payouts.  Simple math would clearly illustrate this.  Yes there will be some high quality Dirt only teams show up but there's a reason for that.  The auto value guys will show maybe one or two Hoss guys and that will be it just do the math and check it out.  You don't have to do this for a living to see that it just doesn't make financial sense.
