Eddie Cheever III's season in the European NASCAR ends with two podiums in Zolder

Zolder, Belgium - The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series 2015 Finals, hosted at Circuit Zolder, Belgium, in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, saw Eddie Cheever III take his revenge for the unlucky weekend he had in Magione by conquering two podium finishes that allowed the Rome-native to climb up to fifth in points at the end of the season.

After two interesting free practice sessions on Friday in which he posted the second fastest time, Eddie Cheever III ended up third on the grid, with a .2 seconds gap from the pole, in a very close qualifying session. The start of the Final 1 saw Eddie Cheever take the second position early, putting pressure on the leader. Unfortunately a problem with the power steering and a red flag in the last lap prevented him from trying a move on the leader. Cheever closed the Saturday Race in second, just one second behind the winner.

Thanks to the second fastest lap on Saturday, Cheever started from the first row in Sunday's Final 2. The last race of the year was a remake of the previous one. After a good start, Cheever was able to keep the second position and attack Day for the win, but the Israeli didn't leave any door open. At the end of 16 fast-paced laps, Cheever took his third podium finish of the season, closing the 2015 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series campaing with 1 win, 3 podiums, 6 Top5s and 10 Top10s in 12 races.

"In Zolder we showed our real potential, the CAAL Racing boys prepared a very competitive car. Unfortunately, the Magione weekend blew all our chances to fight for the championship. It's a shame, because with these results we could aim very high." commented Cheever, who will soon race in the States in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. "I want to thank the whole CAAL Racing team and all my sponsors for this great season. Luck wasn't always with us but we showed all our strenght on track. Closing the championship with two podiums is always a good thing, I want to congratulate Ander Vilarino for his third NASCAR title."

Eddie Cheever III is now already in the States, preparing the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West weekend at the All American Speedway, scheduled on October 17th, and to pursue his NASCAR career.
