track was dry slick and took a lot of rubber but the manicuring helped. Interesting to see Oscaar driver Pee Wee Evans in the #90 sprint car. Some drivers guessed correctly for the slick track but some of the favourites just went backwards (i.e. 77x-12c, etc). Caution free ESS feature was interesting-I think some folks didn't even realize Yonge and Poirier had marched to the front.

Zero thunderstock was DQ'd and loses the win. The Late models were getting as high and as close to the wall as possible to get some grip. Great show for the price....add $6 for my truck wash this morning....i was getting the funniest looks driving around, as if I had a ton of snow on my truck ,not dirt.

sorry Spencer-don't know re the O thunder. We bailed at 12:20 after the ESS feature. Feel sorry for the mini & thunder drivers as the crowd was likely pretty small for them by the time they ran. Mini's are down in numbers this year and they really didn't need to have two cars written off last night. Only criticism of the show (besides the slick track) is that for the sake of time, perhaps they should have offered one of the two junior divisions double features next week instead, or skip the heats entirely and do features only. As I posted on another site, I'm trying to figure out which WOO hauler had the diesel locomotive type horn. I'm still looking for the train! LOL

I think it was an old Cayuga outlaw thundercar.

i've never been to a better night of racing. With a wide dirt track and lots of "grooves", the passes just come one after another. A whole field of open wheel sprints go caution free and there are cars everywhere.
Walking around the pits and seeing these late model race teams and their haulers, equipment, etc. is a real experience. It had the feel of a really big deal and the sound of these guys racing is wild.
It's too bad there's no way to duplicate this kind of racing on an asphault track. I've been to lots of big paved races and they usually turn into a freight train because it's so hard to pass.

That mini wreck was HARD. Moved the fence blocks back some and that takes some doing

The 0x thunder was an old Cayuga car, had some win stickers on it from there. It was fast. doubt there was much legal on it for Oshweken

The 0x Thundercar was not trying to cheat or anything...He was DQ'ed before the night began, but allowed to get some laps anyway.  The driver is Bernard Neiberg, who has competed at Ohsweken in the past...The word I got from Bernard is that the 0x Thunderstock and o44 of Jamie Cox are going to work as a team for the rest of the season and collect points for the o44 towards the championship.  Apparently there are some weeks coming up that Jamie will miss...and for what it is worth, the 0x never got ahead of 777 McPherson in the feature anyway. ;)

...as for Pee Wee Evans, his car is an old Doug "the Hammer" Esh car from PA...Apparently Pancho's put the setup in it and that is why it says Pancho's on the wing (they are a well known racing company in PA).  Pee Wee would rather go by James in the sprint car ranks, so you won't hear us calling him Pee Wee.

Mini's are down in numbers this year and they really didn't need to have two cars written off last night.

Actually the Minis aren't really down in numbers, it's more that we've always been missing a handful of regular runners each night...For example Mike Evers wasn't there on Friday - he won the week 3 feature.  The week before, a lot of cars stayed home in both divisions after looking at the weather forecast, and were eventually proven to have made a good decision when we had the downpour after 6 heats were in...We've had more than 30 different Minis run at least once so far this season...The Mini class is sort of a hobby class for a lot of people, and they will miss weeks for various reasons, but it's still a strong class I think...

...and it has been nice to see drivers move up from the Mini class into other divisions such as the Thunder Stocks and Sportsman and do well, such as Glen Leinen, Gord Bates, Brian Pescetti, Mark Saul, Mike Thorne, Dave Bailey, Lee Winger, Doug Erskine, Robbie Rounce, Ryan Dinning, etc...There are quite a few...so while many drivers have moved to other divisions from the Minis and we don't have 12-car concis anymore in that division, we now have 18-20 ThunderStocks out each week, and 20-24 Minis, which is a lot better than what was going on a couple of years ago...

The real shame of the wreck is that the #40 of Jim Swing was up in the top 5 in points...I hope he can get something together for next Friday...He's been a consistent and clean competitor all season.

Yes, McPherson was your winner...again...somebody has got to beat this kid...we're running out of questions to ask him in victory lane. :D
