MACKINNON PICKS UP FIRST VICTORY IN FRONT OF HOME TOWN CROWD!
(Charlottetown, PE. June 25, 2011) –Charlottetown’s Darren MacKinnon recorded his first career Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour victory Saturday night on his home track at Oyster Bed Speedway. MacKinnon, who started 24th in the Parts for Trucks 100 field inherited the second place spot on lap 55 when leaders Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE) and Shawn Tucker (Fredericton, NB) made contact. MacKinnon made the winning pass on Wayne Smith of Timberlea, NS, with five laps remaining and held on for the win. Vincent came from the back of the pack to finish in second with Smith taking home third. Fourth place belonged to Brudenell’s Jonathan Hicken with Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) completing the top five.
The Parts for Trucks 100 saw 13 cautions and took 82 minutes to complete. Vincent took home the fast time in the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials with a time of 13.317 seconds around the 1/3-mile oval. Vincent also pocketed the Fast Eddie Racewear Dash for Cash and the King Freight Lines Halfway Award. Kent Vincent also took home the Linde Most Laps Led Award. The Dartmouth Dodge Heat Races set the balance of the field for the Parts For Trucks 100 and they were won by John Flemming (Halifax, NS) and Marty Prevost (Fall River, NS). The race was the 20th event sanctioned by the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour in series history at Oyster Bed Speedway.

The next event for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is the Lockhart Truck Center 100 at Scotia Speedworld on Saturday, July 2nd. Last season Shawn Turple dominated this event, the 2009 Tour champion led all 100 laps on his way to the checkers. Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials for the Lockhart Truck Center 100 are slated to begin at 5:10 pm, with racing action at 6:00 pm.
