How to get sponsorship?

Hello my friend and I are going to be racing a ministock this season and I need some sponsorship I know the owners of a few business's but I'm not sure what to say so I thought I would run it be some of you. Hello person are sponsoring a car at our track yet? would you like to? I haven't raced so I couldn't say much for me but my friend on the other hand has been racing for a while and almost one a championship in a higher division.

Schedule a meeting ( People are busy)
Dress nice ( Appearance can be everything)
Have a package prepared specifically for each prospect
Explain the benefits to the potential sponsor, not the ways it will benefit you.
Explain all the ways you can gain them positive exposure (fan counts, media, magazines, interviews, public appearances)
Use the words "marketing partnership", not "sponsorship"

I'm sure others can add to that.

same as 240racer..
but make sure they know exactly what you want..how much money, parts? , suit? , crew shirts?, hero cards? ...
make sure they know what you going to do...where your racing, how many nites, their name on car where? , website, car shows, appearance at their biz and how many times?...
and make sure your going to do all of it...
ive seen and heard of so many sponsors who felt they got screwed over as they didnt get all that was promised...
a few friends of mine say they have more success going for 10 small ones at $300 a pop then a couple of big one...

That's what my friend said get a bunch of little ones then try for a bigger ones but keep options open just in case.
