FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY PR: WORLD OF OUTLAWS SPRINT CAR SERIES RETURNS JULY 29, PLUS NORTHERN SUMMER NATIONALS "RACE FOR THE CURE" JULY 28!

Ohsweken, Ontario - July 24, 2014 - Two of the biggest events of the Ohsweken Speedway season are quickly approaching, with the Burger Barn Northern Summer Nationals "Race for the Cure" set for Monday, July 28, and the Arrow Express Six Nations Showdown featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series scheduled for Tuesday, July 29.

ARROW EXPRESS SIX NATIONS SHOWDOWN
Arrow Express returns as presenting sponsor of the Six Nations Showdown featuring the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series, Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks, and Gale's Auto Aftermarket Bombers on Tuesday, July 29.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car series is the world's premier winged sprint car series. The 2014 WoO schedule includes 93 events at 52 different tracks across 24 American states and 3 Canadian provinces. The tour's visit to Ohsweken on Tuesday, July 29 will conclude a three-race eastern Canadian swing which begins at Drummondville, Quebec on Saturday, July 26 and continues at Cornwall, Ontario on Sunday, July 27.

A tight championship chase is ongoing at the top of the WoO standings, with North Dakota's Donny Schatz, Oklahoma driver Daryn Pittman, and Paul McMahan of Tennessee all in the hunt. Also among the drivers expected are Indiana's Joey Saldana, Steve Kinser, and Kraig Kinser, Australian Kerry Madsen, California driver Brad Sweet, Tennessee's Jason Sides, Pennsylvanians Cody Darrah, Logan Schuchart, and Jacob Allen, and Connecticut driver David Gravel.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car series has competed at Ohsweken on 8 occasions dating back to 2007. Jason Sides won that first event on July 25, 2007, and also recorded wins at Ohsweken on July 29, 2009, and July 30, 2010. Jason Meyers won at Ohsweken on July 28, 2009, Donny Schatz was the winner on August 1, 2010 and July 30, 2013, and Tony Stewart took the checkered flag on both July 27, 2011, and July 31, 2012.

This year's Six Nations Showdown takes on added significance, as part of the "Salute to the King" farewell tour for 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser. The Bloomington, Indiana driver is stepping away from racing full time with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series at the conclusion of the 2014 season.

The Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks will be joined by the Gale's Auto Aftermarket Bombers as support divisions for the Six Nations Showdown. Karl Sault bested a talented field of 39 cars to claim the Thunder Stock win at the Six Nations Showdown last year, with another large car count expected for this year's event.

The Bombers competed during the Northern Summer Nationals event last year, but shift to Tuesday's Six Nations Showdown this year, with defending champion Dusty DeBoer leading the way.

BURGER BARN NORTHERN SUMMER NATIONALS
Grand River Power Sports, 21st Century Signs, Brant News, and the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation have partnered with Ohsweken Speedway to make the Burger Barn Northern Summer Nationals a "Race For The Cure" event in support of the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation. Drivers and teams are collecting pledges for this special event, with prizes from Twenty First Century Signs for those who collect the most.

The July 28 event includes the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Cars, Strickland's GMC Crate Sprint Cars, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and the only appearance of the season at Ohsweken for the DIRTcar 358 "Small Block" Modifieds.

The Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car portion of the Northern Summer Nationals event will include a 25 lap feature, with a $3,000 winner's prize, valuable championship points, and a guaranteed starting spot in the 10th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals feature on the line. Three-time Canadian Sprint Car Nationals winner Shane Stewart of Pittsboro, Indiana won last year's Northern Summer Nationals feature over Jessica Zemken and Dain Naida. Stewart is one of several invaders expected to compete in these special events, along with 2008 Canadian Sprint Car Nationals winner Wayne Johnson, Australian star James McFadden, and more...

DIRTcar 358 Modifieds returned to Ohsweken last season for the first time in 5 years, and put on a show with plenty of 3-wide action. Many top drivers and teams from the Niagara area and beyond are expected to be in attendance, including current Merrittville Speedway championship points leader Chad Brachman, who won last year's Northern Summer Nationals feature over Mat Williamson and Mark D'Ilario. The event will pay the feature winner $1,500, and will count towards the 358 Modified Mr. DIRTcar championship, which takes into account a driver's best 16 finishes between January 1st and Labor Day. Points standings and other information on the Mr. DIRTcar championship is available at www.DIRTcar.com

The Strickland's GMC Crate Sprint Cars will be a part of the Northern Summer Nationals event for the first time on July 28. The first year division continues to grow as the season moves along, and has seen plenty of competition. Feature wins have already been claimed by 4 different drivers (Ryan Hunsinger, Aaron Turkey, Jake Brown, and Brad Herron), while 9 different drivers have at least one podium finish so far.

The HRW Automotive Mini Stocks will again take part in the Northern Summer Nationals this year. The division has been dominated by Tyler Lafantaisie so far this season, and he heads into the Northern Summer Nationals as the odds-on favourite. Lafantaisie finished 3rd in the 2013 Northern Summer Nationals Mini Stock feature, behind drivers - Davey Boughton and Laura Hughes - who have moved to other divisions this year.
