Kansas Cup race a joke!
« on: September 30, 2007, 09:34:53 PM »
Well that was ridiculous. They say they called the race before the last lap. Well they cannot call the race before it is officially complete. What a joke. Then Biffle runs out of fuel not being able to maintain pacecar speed. I think Bowyer should get the win and Biffle crosses the line 4th. That's my opinion on the finish. As far as the length of the race being changed twice that was a joke. They should have never retstarted the race if they could not complete it fully. It was already halfway by that time and the race was official. Then changing it from 225 laps down further to 210 laps with 30 or so to go. That may have helped some peoples pit strategies, but it also may have hurt some peoples pit strategies such as Jeff Gordon who pitted with 56 laps to go and then topped off with one to go before green. If the race had of went 225 laps then Gordon would have won. Too much controversy. If Nascar would have called it during the monsson then all of this drama would not have happened. I fell Nascar was wrong and they should over tun Biffle's win. Bowyer should get it. It's not Biffle's fault and I don't think he should have to suffer but Nascar has got to realize they made a bad call and reverse it. It probably won't happen, but it should.

Whatever happened to the "hurry-up" starts they used to have? And to think Canadian racing is associated with that kind of stuff now...

Strange as on NASCARS site the live stats said Clint Bowyer won the race at lap 210.

NASCAR should mandate tracks have lights so if a race goes into the night they can complete it.

Biffle's lucky the yellow came out. If it went green he would have run out of fuel. As for the scoring, That's because Bowyer and Johnson crossed the finish line ahead of Biffle.

They should have never restarted the race if they could not complete it fully.

yea I don't know what happened with that...they knew they could not finish it so usually they call it...maybe because it was a "chase race".

personally I don't mind what they did re-starting it but making it shorter, but then you can't keep changing it as it goes  ???.

and I don't really know what to think about the Biffel deal..if you ask me you should have to maintain pace speed...and if you run out you run out.

but in this situation, nascar seemed to be changing the amount of laps left as they went, so who knows but it was quiet confusing.

I actually missed the last part of the race, I had to go to hockey so I poped in a tape like I usaly do,but it messed up so I missed it.( was really angry about that..but oh well)  but caught the highlights and confusion that went on.

tsn had it on the alternate feed. I think espn probably did the same. It was worth the wait. It was so dark there was no way to restart it by the time they cleaned the track.

The rule does not say a car must maintain pace car speed it says it must maintain reasonable speed , nascar felt Biffles speed was reasonable . However nascar rules say you cannot pass under caution which means Boyer , Johnson and Gordon should have been disqualified .

I'm sure there's a difference between intentionally passing someone under caution and going by a car which cannot maintain pace speed....

Nascar says Biffle did maintain reasonable speed thats why he has the big cheque , trophy and got to kiss the girl . It seems to me they cant have it both ways .
