Way to go Pete!!!
« on: January 12, 2007, 07:30:47 PM »
Just saw the speeds from daytona truck  testing....way to go Pete and Roush racing.   Third fastest lap and second fastest driver.   Kvapil was first and second in his two trucks...Pete was third.    OH CANADA!!!!!!!!      He got some very good press today from Dave Moody (sirius speedway) as well.      SS :D

Hey, just got in the door from work. I was listening to Sirius in the parking lot before going into work and I caught it as well.

Awesome job Pete! That should open some eyes! ;)
Gotta run and see what's said on the Roush boards now!

Oh by the way SS, did you happen to catch the piece where Ricky Craven talked about Jr. Hanley and how he credited his short track expertise to Jr.

Even Don Biederman was mentioned and the racing down at New Smyrna. Nice to hear about fellow Canadians on US radio!

At any rate Pete, we're all proud of you up here, I'm hearing from another US fan of yours, that you are slated to do 3 Busch races as well, in the DishNetwork car!

It was announced/confirmed today that Petey will run the full Craftsman Truck Series according to Jayskis (re:SPEEDTV). There's nothing indicating who the sponsor is. Has anyone heard who it might be ? Looking at the rest of the rookie class, Petey has an excellent shot of ROTY.

Hey racenut, my buddy just emailed me also, statiing what you're saying "the Speed report and Phil Parsons said that Pete Shephard would be driving the #50 car for the whole season and running
for Rookie Of the The Year."

There's also a blurb on truckseries.com (scroll down the right side of the page to Sonds) where they interviewed Pete in Daytona, and he doesn't mention anything about a full time ride this season, for whatever reason?  Maybe Roush is waiting for the right time to announce it in a press release, sponsorship, or what have you???

At any rate, it's really looking promising for Petey, he's fast alone, and he mentions that he's picking up on the draft now, which has got to be a new beast for him to tackle. I guess the morning times are solo and the afternoon times are drafting, I notice he really improved the second day, drafting!

Pete's Cumulative Truck Testing Speeds was 8th fastest, which is just awesome!

I wish Pete all the best, and I'll be down to Daytona to cheer him on, God willing! ;)

I've got my finger's crossed for you too, Pete.

Here's a quote I found on Jayski today:
Quote
Shepherd to drive full season? UPDATE: During post-testing coverage, SPEED/TV reported that Canadian driver, Peter Shepherd will drive the #50 Roush Racing Ford for the full 2007 Truck Series season.(Speed/TV)(1-13-2007)
UPDATE: Shepherd crossing fingers: Canadian Peter Shepherd (#50 Roush Racing Ford) consistently has logged some of this week's quickest laps, but still has no idea if he'll be competing in next month's race. If performance counts, however, Shepherd, 20, should count on getting some action in the team's F-150 truck. Shepherd competed in three races for Roush in 2006 with a best finish of 18th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.(Speed/TV)(1-15-2007)

I have also read that TJ Bell will be running the truck for 15 races.  Read that he walked in with a bunch of cash and a sponsor, and walked out with a seat in the truck.

Honestly, if Jack Roush refused to keep Danny O'Quinn around in any ride, what realistic chance did Pete Shepherd really have? I wanted to see him succeed, as did all of us, but hopefully this doesn't hinder him in finding a ride elsewhere...
