maybe I or someone else might feel like starting another one with a different question to start it!

Like What?

Do you Race Hotseat? Because then you would understand why we are all upset.  I talked to the track today and I now have a better understanding of what happend. It sucks for the 17 freinds and family that came out just to see me. None of them have plans on returning to the speedway anytime soon.

We will be out one final time on the 26th. Checkers or Wreckers!   8)

yes i do race... been at the track for 6 straight years now, I do enduros and help a team mate in the truck class! and i do understand y ur upset, but like i said..ur the side show and if it gets to late u will always be the race to get the axe due to time.
that is really to bad all ur friends and family were disappointed, hope they still come out for the nationals, but a little advice..if u dont want this to happen again, then beef up that snot rod and move up to real entry class racing and try ur luck with enduros buddy..thats where the fun is!!!!

I think what you said really demeaning....they are in a league of their own and from what they have said their racing is just as important to them as it is to us racing in the super stock division. You may think of them as a side show but what's important is how they view themselves. You should also remember that the fans that come to watch the chaos cars support the track that you race at and in turn helps us all so instead of dismissing the chaos car division we need to throw in our support for them....

I don't think Hotseat was trying to demean anyone peeps, read a little closer. Chaos is a filler class, but it does not take away the effort, and determination these guys have either. My 2 cents anyway.

Give it up guys,

Its common practice in the racing world to cut the lowest division when something gets backed up especially when its designed as a filler anyways.  You said it yourself Snot Rod there was 17 people there to see you.  I bet there was alot  more people there to see the LOSC race.  That is why there series got paid to be there and why Chaos car teams get free admission. I will agree its too bad that it got canceled but thats part of life.

100% agreed, we got wrecked in the second 50 lapper and I didn't want to wait any longer to go home, it still took us an hour after the second race to get the car loaded, so if the chaos division would have run, I would have got home at 3:00am and wouldn't have been a happy camper

I haven't been on in a long time and thought I would have a peek at whats been going on.  Doesn't seem like a whole lot..but this topic is rather funny.
To call Chaos cars an entry level of racing is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
Does that mean when you retire from Chaos Cars you move up to the Cup Level of Demolition Derby's ??

I for one think starter classes like 4 Four Fun's, Mini Stocks or Street Stocks are bonified Starter Series, and we need to support them in order to keep racing in Canada.
These classes offer New Drivers the opportunity to learn Setups, gears, Camber, Caster, Welding and Fabricating. They also teach Drivers how to Race, Pass, and work in traffic.
I don't think anyone driving a Chaos Car will ever come close to learning what a real race car feels like or how to work on one.
I would imagine that this series was developed as a form of entertainment for the younger fans, something like Rodeo Clowns...although Rodeo Clowns are truly talented at what they do and without them the show does not go on !!

As far as getting your show cancelled its very simple math, and I am sure Delaware did the math.
Do we cancel a field full of Stock Car Trucks to run the Chaos Cars ??  NOT !!
Do we cancel the LOSC Twin 50's who had a full field of cars, or do we run the Chaos Cars ??  NOT

Delaware made the right call in favor of the fans, the time, and the show.
Don't take me wrong here, I enjoy beginner series that use real race cars, but your idea of calling Chaos Car's real race car's is a bigger joke then watching a Chaos Show !!

I understand you being upset that you couldn't run, and the fact that it screwed up your championship.
Now we will never know which Chaos Driver will be racing in the Nascar Toyota Allstar Shootout !!

dont think many would, even the directors of the track have told myself personally id a dead horse with no real excitement and that the fan turn out, or people who stick around to watch them is low, hence why they put yall with the enduros so people might stick around to watch more smashs ups. i have to agree in that saying yall are just there for the kids for entertainment hence why you dont pay to get in and you dont get paid to win or place, merly a feel good class that you could beat 3 or 4 cars to win

Perhaps instead of hammering on the Chaos cars and the guys that decide to run the class, we should be coming up with better ideas to get new/fresh blood into a beginner clase near the price point of the Chaos Cars.  There is at least one chaos driver talking about moving up, so it IS a beginner class in that sense.  It's just like crack, after that first hit, you always want more (From what I've read mind you  ;) ).

The enduro cars were that price point at one time but now appear to have lost that edge (dwindling car counts is what I hear).  What's the answer for a realatively fast 1/2 mile track???  Don't know, but harping about the class without providing solutions is just plain BS!

My $0.02

PS:  If it were my track and I had to make the call on Sept 5th, I'd have done the same thing that was done.  And if I had a Chaos Car, I would have been PO'd as well.

Now where's that popcorn........

Car count will go up in Enduro, once people start building new chassis'. Third Gens are slowly getting a little more common, and smaller trucks are legal now. Give it time, it will come back.

One problem is the cost to go fast in this division now. Low car counts contribute to higher speeds, which scares away a lot of the beginners. Just stating a fact I have heard from many who have asked about the class.

Crewchief says "What's the answer for a realatively fast 1/2 mile track??? "

A couple different road courses or a small oval in the infield and Delaware doing a go-cart deal like they do in Hamilton at Cameron Motorsports. This could be done on Wednesdays with the junior racing league or by itself on another night. I guess what I am trying to get at is if you want entry level participants which appeals to Adults that are interested in competing but are not able or willing to get in the big cars (until they get the bug that is) then I think this is it. Hamilton is just a tad too far for me to go not to mention driving the 403  :o but this type of thing really intrests me and could be a huge revenue generator for the track (not so much from fans but from participants)  that doesn't take time from the Friday night shows. I wish Grand Bend did this but they don't seem interested for whatever reason.

Are you talking about the CRKC (Canadian Rookie Karting Championship) like the arrive and drive program that is run all across Ontario at places like Cameron Motorsports, Erbsville Kartways, etc. I totally agree with you on the that one, it interests me aswell because I was debating on going to Cameron Motorsports next year (I live in Woodstock so it's not that bad of a drive) or running an enduro car (same distance to Hamilton and to Delaware), it would be an awesome deal for Delaware and I think alot of people would be interested in this program.

Hello all,

The cancellation of the most recent event was unfortunate and was caused by a number of cascading factors, including time constraints.  The basic argument the Chaos Car participants have put forward is that they found out about the situation while they were in their cars, helmets on, belts pulled tight and engines running.   They were taken by surprise and their frustration is understandable, as I believe any competitor would be moments before taking to the track.  We have talked about it in office, and steps will be taken to avoid such problems in the future.

Further, while the cancellation was unfortunate, it was not an indicator of speedway policy towards the Chaos Car series or its participants.  The series continues to enjoy our 100% support, along with the support of its title sponsor Ultimate Sandblasting & Coatings.  I had the opportunity to speak to Ultimate on the phone today, and they are very excited about the possibilities for this series next season.

The Chaos Cars do provide a stepping stone for future speedway involvement.  Whether they can be considered “entry-level” or not appears to be a subject of great debate on the boards, but the answer is largely academic.  If the series gets people involved coming out to the speedway to enjoy themselves in a competition environment, that to me qualifies them as a way of getting involved with motorsports.

More to the point, the vehicles are affordable to build and have a strong appeal with young people as well as families.  The series is now just under two years old since it was announced.  Any series at this stage in development will have its struggles.  The challenges faced by the division have been discussed at length with the participants in the class.  In response, the competitors have indicated their willingness to push on so as to meet and overcome these challenges.  I have never felt more privileged to work for an extended period of time with such a dedicated, energetic, passionate group of individuals then the founding Chaos drivers.

The next event for the series will be on Saturday, September 26, 2009.  The drivers will no doubt be very hungry to put on a good show after the unfortunate events of the recent competition.  As with all challenges the division faces, I have no doubt they will meet this challenge with the same enthusiasm I have seen over the past two seasons.  Demar Nationals is always one of the most exciting events of the year and I would encourage anyone reading this to make the trip to see the final competitions of the season at Canada’s Finest Short Track.

I am available to answer any questions you may have.

All the best,

-John Houghton
