This is the exact rules from the Grand Bend web site, but with the rule change inserted. I sent this to Brad and would like to get more thoughts on the situation as well as this poll. Any thoughts can go be posted below. Like I said in the other post, I would run the 250 in my car and be the gunipig for the rule change. Another rule I think is a good idea is, that a Clymer book on your make and model engine (440 and 250) be avalible to the tech inspector uppon request. To make it fool proof for tech inspection.

2007 440cc OUTLAW SPRINT RULE BOOK

ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS:

   Engine
-   440cc snowmobile engine, fan or air cooled only
-   250cc motocross engine, liquid cooled single cylinder
-   Engine must have original casting number
-   Cylinders may be bored to a maximum of .060 over standard size
-   Original stroke must be retained
-   “Turbos” are not permitted
-   Engines will be randomly checked for displacement

Carburetors
-   No fuel injection
-   Round slide, flat slide, or butterfly carburetors only
-   Twin carbs, 38mm maximum (440)
-   Single carbs, 44mm maximuim (440), stock (250)

Mufflers
-   Mufflers / silencers are mandatory
-   A decibel rating will be determined
-   No open headers

Radiatior - that would be up to Brad , but I think infront of front axl safely sheilded from driver or infront of engine on right side safely sheilded as well.

So why were you not at the drivers meeting in October when the 2008 rules were established? Are you sitting on one of these motors and that’s why you want to run it? 440 fans last a long time if you maintain and tune them right. Same goes for the clutches, stay on top of them and they last a long time.

if a guy has a 250 who cares number one a 250 will not beat a 440 period we used to have them run with us in the hurricanes .they are under powered period .i would say you might run mid pack at best..so thats why i dont see a problem with running them..

Im in school in Sudbury and its too costly for a stuldent to drive there and back for a meeting. If I dont try to help along a change it will never happen. I dont have a motor, and if you watch any 440 race ususly most of the pack never finishes(at GB anyway).Yes there are good clutches out there, but most of them explode on a regular basis. What is better that a motor with the clutching and multiple gearing already there buy one piece and u have it all.  I think its a good option and I deffinatly wont be mid pack. I may be underpowered but the 250 liquid has the same power all race. If i have to I will run a 440, but I think that it is an easier for guys to transition to say a Can Am etc if they learn to shift with a 250.

I think you have a good idea ....just drop the engine on hook up the rad  and your all set but I dont think yould really want the rad in front of the driver and you should only be allowed to use water in them, as coolant can burn you a lot worse if you have a leak . Just my two cents .

I guess thats all the votes this thing is going to get then. Basicly a 10 to 2 in favor of the proposal ! Sounds good to me, thanks for the input from everyone , I was hoping for more but 12 votes is not bad at all concidering the number of 440's at GB.

Thanks

Dont you think you should be racing a 440 first before you decide that a 250 water cooled is better..
Most of the people on this site arent even old enough to drive........
     Just saying

Very true Costa, I ll be sure to wave as I blow by you next season, 250 or 440 powered! haha No , it might take me a few weeks , but I will be up there fighting with you! I know u r not keen on the 250 idea! haha Anyways you ran damn good last year! Rookie or not, I was very impressed! Champ!

Hurr15 , im 26 and have been racing at GB since it was first opened when I was 14. Ive got 10 yrs in a 9hp, 4yrs in a truck. I have had a few yrs off (my $ went to college not racing) and the last 2 yrs I ran a limited schedule. Im finally intrested in the 440 class and will have the time and $ to run. I might run a few Hurricane races, if my work schedule allows. Oh , I also beat your series champ in the 9hp all the time! Hahah, after a few yrs Matt was good compitition.

Im going to be bending up a new suspended micro on my march break. It will be very different from the others out there, and I have some cool engineering tricks and stuff that should be out there already for this new car! Im looking forward to racing again this summer, all the best to you all !

Marry Christmas & Happy New Year!
