Canada Day Weekend Doubleheader at Cornwall Motor Speedway
Cornwall, Ont – Wednesday, June 6th, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – If you are looking for an activity on Canada Day Weekend, Cornwall Motor Speedway will be the place to be on Sunday June 30th with the visit of the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series and the following night on Canada Day, with a DIRTcar Tripleheader involving the DIRTcar 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro-Stock series on the same card!
All the Big Block Stars will be in town on June 30th to compete in the 100-lap and $6,000 to win feature event, the Brett Hearn, Matt Sheppard, Danny Johnson, Pete Britten, Billy Dunn and company will race against our local drivers. Several drivers from ``la Belle Province`` will drive to Cornwall as David Hébert, Mario Clair, Steve Bernard and Yan Bussière all owns a Big Block and would want to cash on this great doubleheader. A full race program for the other regular divisions will be on tap.
The following night the DIRTcar Tripleheader involving the DIRTcar 358-Modifieds combined with the 1st round of the Gaetan`s Chip Stand Canadian Nationals will be the main event of the evening. Several big names will try and run both show, a huge car count is expected to try and qualify for the 100-lap event paying $4,000. Over $60,000 in purse will be given for the Modifieds over the 2 feature events!
With the presence of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series, several invaders will be visiting in order to win the 50-lap feature race, drivers from the Niagara region, Quebec and Northern New-York will be in competition against our great local drivers.
The Pro-Stock category will have their most important night of the year in Cornwall with 2 series in town as the DIRTcar Series in conjunction with the Mohawk Race Parts Series will be run during the 50-lap event. Again a great field of cars is expected with many competitors from other track making the haul for this race.
For Sunday`s event, the pit gates will open at 3:30pm with general admission unlocking at 4:30pm. Time trials for Modifieds will start at 6:30pm with the first heat scheduled to start at 7:00pm. General Admission will costs 28$ with children 18 years and under only 2$, seniors 65 and over will be 15$ and Pit Admission will be $38.
On Monday, Pit Gates will open at 1pm with general admission opening at 2pm. The first heat is scheduled for 5pm. This early time will allow fans and race teams to get home at a reasonable time.
