Darrell Lanigan wins the World of Outlaws Late Model Feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

 

Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 23, 2013 – Martin Bélanger – The World of Outlaws Late Models Series was in town for their annual visit at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Mel Valade Backhoe Services Night. Along with the spectacular Late Models, the Modifieds, Sportsman and Semi-Pro were on hand.

 

The 50-lap World of Outlaws Late Models saw Tim McCreadie take the lead over Tim Fuller and Bub McCool. First caution came out on third lap as Larry Wight went off the track in turn 3. McCreadie got strong start as Fuller had his hands full with McCool and Darrell Lanigan. McCreadie got into traffic on lap 9 as Lanigan was now in third. The 39-car pulled away from the field as Lanigan was charging for second with 18 laps in the books. Veteran runner Clint Smith got by Fuller for third on lap 23. Eric Wells stopped in turn 3 and caution came out lap 28 bringing the field together. On the restart, McCreadie got an issue with his right end and he lost the lead. Lanigan inherited of the lead and got away from Fuller and Smith. Fuller lost some real estate as Smith and now Shane Clanton in third. As the leaders were in heavy traffic, McCool got by Clanton for third with 7 laps to go, Adam Turner brought caution out with only 3 laps to be completed. Lanigan sailed away and got the win over Smith and Bub McCool.

 

Kyle Dingwall grabbed the lead in the 30-lap Jiffy Auto Services Modified Feature as Gilles Godard and Carey Terrance were behind him. Terrance got second over Godard as caution came out on lap 4. On the restart, Terrance got the lead over Dingwall just before yellow was out for Gabriel Richer on the following lap. One more lap got completed as Richer and Jeff Sykes got tangled in turn 2. Terrance in the lead for another lap as Justin Lalancette had a small fire in his engine and yellow lights were out. Terrance on top with Dingwall and Danny O’Brien joining the leaders with 10 laps completed. Brian McDonald stopped in the infield and caution was out. Terrance stepped out of the track and Dingwall got the lead with 11 laps to go as rain started to fall and the yellow lights were out as the track became slippery, Dingwall was declared winner over Danny O’Brien and Stéphane Lafrance.

 

The 15-lap Evans Bus Lines Feature event was the first feature of the evening; Derek Cryderman took the lead over Pascal Racette and Steve Billings. Cryderman had built himself a sizeable lead until he broke and gave Racette the lead, the feature went caution less and Racette won his first event of the season over Billings and Junior Delormier.

 

Shane Pecore led wire to wire in the 12-lap Sportsman Novice feature and captured the checkered flag after having bad luck on opening night.

 

The 20-lap feature will be run at a later date; an announcement will be done this week.
