i have used the falken tires they are good and cheap enough for teams on a limited budget to purchase if they shop around i know i get them at a decent price here and i don't have to worry about shipping and handling fees, whereas some guys are getting them shipped up from the states and are paying us dollars for them but then again with our dollar being par with theirs doesn,t make much of a difference anyways

Most the thunder cars / street stocks here run a hoosier spec tire .There are very few choices in a raceable tire in that spec and that price range to choose from since it is the same size tire i use on my pick up . I would chose the BFG  TA that is a little softer and has a better construction .

Trick the Master Craft is just a re branded Cooper Cobra.

correct about the hoosier spec, but not allowed yet at our track, biggest concern is safety. the 8" spec tires will drop a second from the lap times, but then we start having brake issues, spindle problems and broken axles. the cost to shod my street stock(81 camero) in hoosiers would be $1380 min for the year. to run the cobras is 480 for the year plus saving the cost on brakes axles etc. i have no doubt the tires you tire you list are faster i am just wondering if the are the right choice for entry level classes with older equipment.

Hill3 you are absolutely correct and i think you are being conservative on how much it would cost you to run the hoosiers.  If spindles become an issue you can switch to the astro van spindle and you will have no more problems.

Hill3 I have the Hoosiers, stock g metric spindles, 10" Metric brakes, (I haven't upgraded them to Astro yet, I didn't want to have 4.75 on 5 and 5 on 5 rims on the same car) and a 10 bolt metric. I haven't broke anything yet, except the welds in the spiders in the rear gear, which we replaced with a mini-spool. I don't even lose the brakes, but I can't go as deep in the corner as some of the other guys, my braking point is about 10' before everyone else, because they all run the 12" rotor.

The car came with 7.0 Hoosiers (Sunset tires) and I noticed a bit of a difference going from them to 8.0 Hoosiers (Barrie tires).

Apparently the Hoosiers are good for at least a 1/2 second over the old racing recaps, so it may be worth a full second to you guys running 60 series street radials.

The Thunder Cars here are probably similar to your Street Stocks, Camaros, Montes, Malibus, all the usual G-Metric offenders... :)

How many of you 4 cyl guys shave your tires?

I insist that my tires and my women are shaved.

this is a dumb thread guys arguing how a 400 treadwear tire is just as good as a 200 treadwear c'mon fellas it's a no brainer!! as for guys tearing the Azenis up I'd like to see it we've ran the Falkens Ziex and Azenis all yr and only went through 8 tires two of which were cut in accidents and one flat so we only worn one Ziex out!! now that to me is a smart tire purchase if a racer is buying a tire a week for his 4 cyl he'd be better off to spend some of that money on his chassis so it works and doesn't eat tires!!
