The 2009 Montreal Nationwide Series Tour Begins This Saturday At Local Race Tracks

Tradition Continues at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as Formula 1600 Series
Is Added to The NAPA Auto Parts 200, Presented by Dodge Program

Montreal, July 9, 2009 - The organizers of the NAPA Auto Parts 200, Presented by Dodge on August 29-30 in Montreal, proudly announce the return of the Formula 1600 Series at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Race fans will get a chance to see the Formula Tour 1600 drivers perform in the same event with the Rolex Grand-Am Series, the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, and the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Drivers such as Olivier Bonnet, Didier Schraenen, Jerimy Daniel, and Marcel Lafontaine - winners of the four first races so far this season - will showcase their talent, as will thirty or more drivers during practice, qualifying, and on Sunday morning August 30 for their big race.

"Our friends at Formula 1600 are part of the Montreal race tradition," said François Dumontier, promoter and spokesperson for the NAPA Auto Parts 200, Presented by Dodge. "Over the years, they have oftentimes lit up the fans on Sunday mornings at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with exciting races. The enthusiasm and daredevil moves showed by series veterans and up-and-coming stars give them plentiful rights to compete in the only summer race of 2009 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The weekend activities will give race fans a lot to cheer for with top of the line action from stock-car series, sports car series, and open wheel competition. I am sure that the passion and sheer determination showed by Formula 1600 drivers, and the spectacular on-track action will thrill fans, and set the tone for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race that will follow on Sunday afternoon."

Didier Schraenen, the veteran star driver and spokesperson for the Formula Tour 1600 Series was ecstatic about the return of the series on the Parc jean-Drapeau road course: "We want to thank Stock-Car Montreal for giving us the opportunity to run at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in front of such an enthusiastic crowd. Fans should show-up early to the track on Sunday morning if they want to see plenty of action. Thirty drivers are willing to put everything on the line for the bragging rights of winning in Montreal. Our cars don't have any covered wheels, our engines might not be as powerful as others, but we are going to enter the Senna corner with the same determination as our friends in Grand-Am and NASCAR."
