very sad news- I also remember his sponsorship of Wayne Keeling's Super Late and son Robbie's late model sportsman (challenger) , all flying the " United Van Line" colours. Our sympathy to Robbie and his family.

Don't forget Russ Urlin in there as well.  I believe he drove for Thompson for quite a while.
Sad news.

He shares this day with another long time Racer/Crew Chief who's pathes crossed several times in Ron Williams, who passed away 3 years ago today.

My thoughts to the Thompson family as well as the Williams family for their losses.

Our condolences to Robbie, Carol and Family.

I can just see John, Don B. and Dad now.......in a better place.

Yes, I believe it's a better place, but it sure isn't fair to have them go so soon.

Wendy (Williams), & Wade Watson

I see the details were posted, but Robbie faxed me something and asked me to post it here.

"Notice of Arrangements for John Thompson.

A private family service will be held following John's wishes.

John's love and friendship reached circles far and wide. From ball fields and hockey rinks to race car tracks, the trucking industry and world class golf courses, he touched many lives.

Friends and family are invited to join the family in a "Celebration of John's Life" at the Best Western 'Inn on the Bay' (located at 1800 - 2nd Avenue East, in Owen Sound, Ontario) on Saturday, December 15 from 2 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre Foundation Oncology Department or NASCAR's 'Victory Junction Gang Camp' would be appreciated by the family.

'A time to share, reminisce and love all the many memories left by this great man.'
