Twin 40s for Modifieds this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Thursday, June 19, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – The Modifieds will have a busy Sunday evening this coming weekend as twin 40-lap events will be run along with a complete race program in all other divisions on Seaway GM Performance night.

A special night for the Modifieds as two 40-lap events paying $2,000 to the winner each will be run as more than $16,000 in purse could be distributed. Special qualifying procedures will be in place for this night. For feature #1, the Cornwall Speedway handicap system will be in use to place the drivers in the heats, qualifying results will be taken in heads-up fashion and depending on the amount of cars in the pits, a B-Main might be necessary. For feature #2, the practice session before the start of the evening will be used as a timed session and the top 20 times will be taken for these spots, the remainder of the field will be fixed with a B-Main. To add a twist to the second event, the winner of the first event will draw a number between 0 and 10 and it will be used to invert the top positions in the feature.

With his second win of the season, Shane Pecore got the lead back in the Tracy Wheeler Royal Lepage Sportsman category, Pecore leads the way over Corey Wheeler and Joey Ladouceur as Justin Lalancette and Mike Maresca completes the top 5, a 20-lap feature event will be run.

In the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock division, Stephane Lebrun is currently the hottest driver in the group having won the last 2 events while passing Dave Bissonnette for the points lead as Jocelyn Roy is third. There is always great racing in these 20-lap events.

Will we see a fourth different winner in the Laminacorr Industries Semi-Pro 15-lap feature event? So far, Kevin Fetterly and Bruno Richard with two each and current point’s leader Derek Cryderman have visited the winners circle.

Rookie contender Jean-Francois Page will want to continue his good start in 2014 as he leads the point`s chase without winning an event thus far. He will have to battle veterans such as Chris James and Francis Aborameh in the 12-lap Mini-Stock.

General admission price will be 20$ for adults, 15$ for Seniors 65 years and over, kids under 16 admission is only 2$. Pits admission will be 30$, pit entrance will be open at 4pm. General admission gates will open at 5:30pm with racing starting at 7pm sharp!
