The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series in town this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Cornwall, Ont – Wednesday, June 25, 2014 – Martin Bélanger – One of the biggest events of the season is on tap this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway as the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series will be in town for their annual visit. It will also be a very emotional evening in the Mini-Stock feature event.
Cornwall will be round #3 of the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series as Matt Sheppard leads the way in front of defending Series champion Brett Hearn as Billy Decker currently ranks in third spot. Justin Haers, Billy Dunn, Jimmy Phelps, Larry Wight, Mat Williamson, Pete Britten, Danny Johnson and several others will also be at Cornwall as the Series is attracting nearly 20 regulars on the Tour in 2014.
Local runners such as Carey Terrance, Stephane Lafrance, Chris Raabe, Brian McDonald, Gage Morin and others will try and defend home turf during the 100-lap event paying a cool $6,000 to the winner. We remember last year, a impressive total of 58 cars had attempted to qualify. Along with the Big Block feature, a full program will be presented by Mel Valade Backhoe Services.
The night will be very emotional in the 12-lap Mini-Stock feature as we will host a small presentation to honour Danny Lefebvre who had a fatal accident at the speedway last Sunday evening.
In the Tracy Wheeler Royal Lepage Sportsman division, a solid group of cars is always on hand to compete in the 20-lap feature event.
Always great racing in the Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock category as a good mix of talent and experience in the full fender category is to race in the 20-lap event.
A 15-lap feature is schedules for the Laminacorr Industries Semi-Pro group.
General admission price will be 28$ for adults, 15$ for Seniors 65 years and over, kids under 16 admission is only 2$. Pits admission will be 38$, pit entrance will be open at 2pm for hauler parking as the paying gate will open at 4pm. General admission gates will open at 3:00pm with racing starting at 7pm sharp! A firework display will be on hand to celebrate Canada Day.
