Inclement weather forces cancellation Season Opener at Cornwall Motor Speedway!

Cornwall, Ont – Wednesday, May 3, 2017 – Martin Bélanger – Mother Nature has been very unpleasant in the last weeks and has given headaches to the Cornwall Motor Speedway promoter Raymond Lavergne. Inclement weather combined to very wet grounds has forced Lavergne to cancel prematurely the 2017 season opener that was scheduled for this coming Sunday, May 7th.

‘’We need sun and warm weather to dry up the facility and we only have rain and more rain!’’ mentioned Lavergne, looking the upcoming weekend forecast announcing some more precipitations combined to cool tempatures. ‘’I hate to cancel this early but the situation leaves us with no choice!’’ added Lavergne.

There will no rescheduling of Sunday’s program but we are looking at maybe adding a practice night before the new opener scheduled on the 21st. ‘’We need to get race cars and laps in and see how the new clay reacts, hopefully we will have some sun in the coming week and be able to hold a practice session!” said Lavergne.

Fans and race teams, who had already purchased or received tickets for the May 7th program, will be able to pay the difference in value on May 21st and/or May 22nd or exchange their ticket on May 28th which will be a show of the same price value than the 7th. This promotion will only be valid of the month of May.
In the meantime, we will keep everyone posted on final decision to hold a practice session between now and May 21st.

We are looking forward to the new season opener starting a busy 2-day schedule that will involve our 3 local series with the Canadian Nationals Modified and Cindy Ladouceur Memorial Series sharing the spotlight on Sunday the 21st and the Race for the Cure Sportsman Series on the 22nd along with the Vintage and a special wet track enduro.
