Don't know what's REALLY going on here.,with Delaware, but having no banquet is just ridiculous.I feel sorry for all the wives, sponsors, and friends, that can't go and celebrate with their teams!
Makes you want to find something else to do on Friday nigths! >:(

Just to make sure the facts come first...

Yes, the format of the banquet has changed this year, and number of tickets allotted to each team were startlingly limited. Not everyone on the team gets to go.

But just to be clear to the casual reader...no one said, or even implied, that  you can't bring your wife.

Having said that, maybe those who are unhappy could perhaps take it up with management on the phone. Complaining here might make you feel better, but it's counter-productive.

So, you guys that are going to the banquet...have one for me and have a good time!

Okay, consider this scenario: You are a driver. You get 2 tickets. Do you take your wife? Your car owner? Your crew chief? Your primary sponsor? I wouldn't want to have to make that decision.

Me neither.

I only responded because it would be possible to construe, from racinchic's comments, that the track had said "You can't bring your wife" And that is false.

First let me say why is this subject on this site. This site from my understanding is for racing & results & information on tracks series etc not for a subject that has nothing to do with racing.
To the ones that complain on this subject if you are involved at this track. Yes you may have something to be upset about but contact management and show your disapproval by phone etc. If you are not involved in this track then you have nothing to be upset about.Again the only people who will have to explain about this subject is management and they will be resposible for what ever happens reguarding this issue

First let me say, this subject is on this site because its relevant to the people involved with DS. The folks that run at DS... drivers, crews, sponsors and yes wives did and do care about the banquet. We have all enjoyed the end of year banquet as do most competitors of any race track anywhere. For some to feel cheated out of their end of season bash should not be belittled by those who wouldn't or dont know any different.
Racinchic has a very valid point, if this is what keeps our wives happy and helps them to support us in what we do all summer then this is an important issue. Without their support alot of us would not be able to do this to the extent we do.
Contacting DS on this issue would be a mute point due to the fact they dropped the ball on this one. Phone calls now would be a waste of time for both parties. IMO they know they screwed up and are doing the best they can on short notice. Yes, I believe they overlooked the deal and when push came to shove it was too late.

they drop the ball alot lately!! be interesting to see if anyone even gets trophies this year!! I don`t think the photo copied piece of paper for a feature win went over to well this summer! maybe all the money they are saving on the banquet is going back into the point fund! someone that gets to go tomorrow will have to keep us informed! let`s hope it all turns out good!

Was at the banquet last night. I thought it went good. We all knew it would be scaled down from previous years but all in all thought they did a decent job of it. Nice champions trophies and the payout was more then I believe most people expected. As well, all competitors who finished in the top 5 for the 4 weekly divisions get free registration for next year and passes for driver and three crew members to get into the track at the back gate for free for the 2008 season. Now that amounts to a huge savings for the race teams. My congrats to the delaware staff for putting the night to-gether and being upfront  for next years banquet as far as saying if thats what the race teams want (banquet with meal at 50 bucks a head) then they will go back to that format.

My fear is this will drive up back gate admissions to cover the revenue loss. On a nightly basis it will amount to about $300 less or about $6000 less over the season when registration is add in.
I hope it won't happen.

Only other comment I can make is that there was no reason for Jerry to swear 5x during his opening speech. First my wife didn't appreciate it (so Jerry is now a A**, in my wife's book, way to go)  and secondly I know there was a least one minor in the room. In the shop this maybe OK, but at a Awards Night.

DB71 you do have a good point losing $6000.00 at back gate revenue will hurt and they will have to find away of making it up
some how.Not that it was abad thing to do to give these drivers and pit crew (3 Ea ) registration for next year that is great on the tracks part. Now the track has set a presents for years to come. Will this be permanent every year who no's if so it can be costly. As for your statement if it is true this person Jerry swore 5x during his speech he should be ashamed of him self should apoligise to the people that were there. If you want to call this management acting like this I hate to say you(Track ) still have a long way togo to get back where you were the best short track
in Canada

I was wondering if anyone at the banquet was talking about the OSS and the chance we might run there in 2008.
As well, seeing that most of you in this forum are Racers, does anyone know of any Sportsman or Super Series cars sitting. We are looking for cars for racers to purchase, as well we are also looking for Cars to build our Car count.
If you know of someone please have them contact me at oosracing@hotmail.com
Thanks Dave

Dave not one mention of the OSS running at DS. I'd be surprised if they will pay the reported 10K you guys are asking for next year.
As DB71 stated, the trucker talk coming out of Jerry was uncalled for especially after dragging that poor women up to the podium to look at the picture of Jesus. What was that all about anyway?
All in all the whole deal was fine. The mix up with the point fund envelopes was kind of comical. When we finally received them most guys were pleasently surprised with the amount on the cheque.

OK, I'm now officially sorry I missed that.  :D
