Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Heads Back to Flamboro Speedway

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

Its where everything began for the 2014 season and Saturday, September 6th the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, presented by Torque Builders Inc. returns to Flamboro Speedway, the site of the year's first green flag.

A Saturday, August 16th rainout at Peterborough Speedway means OMRS teams and the fans who support the series have been kept waiting for close to 2 months for action to return.  The break may have affected the momentum, but certainly not the enthusiasm enjoyed by the popular open wheeled group.  Randy Hollingsworth - one of the 3 series founders, who along with Rick Warnes and Bill Pickford also compete on the tour - says  everyone is anxious to get back into battle.

"We're a strong bunch and committed to putting on a great show for the fans at each and every show," said Hollingsworth.  "Waiting this long to race again is almost like waiting for Christmas morning.  The anticipation is building throughout the OMRS camp and we're excited about getting back to Flamboro and hitting the track again."

Even with its limited exposure during the 2014 season, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, powered by Torque Builders Inc. is still looking for its first 2 time main event winner.  The fields have been pretty evenly matched and everyone is in the running for a checkered flag.  Hollingsworth says the series mandate is to make sure everyone gets a chance to play.

"Our mission statement is to preserve competitive and affordable open wheel modified racing created for racers, by racers," said Hollingsworth.  "We have some talented runners in the series, but its more about having fun and the love of the sport than it is outspending the competition."

The Ontario Modifieds Racing Series is also pleased to welcome John Smellie and his 1931 Packard to pace their feature event at Flamboro.  The Showworld Photography Facebook page has more information.  For complete details on the Saturday, September 6th event - which will also feature Late Model, Thunder Car, Mini Stock, 4F Modified and Pure Stock action - see www.flamborospeedway.net.
