Here's the deal IMO
The OSS is the wannabe's of Ontario. I wasn't at Mosport but I was at Cayuga. Looked to me like some race cars hot lapping for fifty laps. Steve plays with them, makes a bit of a show at the front tho. It looked like he let the kid win. Not to take anything away from what Matt has done he was without a doubt the best of the rest. I left after the first fifty so I cant comment after that.  I wish that club the best of luck. They will do well as a support/special class on a regular night, but a stand alone show is out of the question.

For those concerned, thanks and yes I am okay.
The car lost its brakes going into turn 3... thank God the 00 was ther for me to get slowed a bit, otherwise I dont think I would have come out of the crash without geeting hurt.
That was a really hard crash. The Car was bent 100% flat right back to the Motor.
I guess we will Clip the car and see if we can get it ready for Sauble.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it. I'm a season ticket holder but couldn't make it for other reasons. (you can bet I'll be out next week though...ASA and Beider Memorial...oh yeah!)

I think we gotta remember that the OSS was something that came together very late in the game this year. Wasn't it only announced like, a week or two before the season started? I applaud them for what they've accomplished in so short a time.

I agree with Mitch, in a sense, that they might've been more viable as an add on to a track's regular show rather than standing on their own for the first year...perhaps running features at a length more suitable to the number of cars they have...then let it grow into something bigger. On the other hand, Cayuga's the only spot on the schedule where they stand alone like this. (I'm only sorry they couldn't hash something out with Delaware...the Fri or Sat leading to the Labor day race would have been a good place for them.)

I dunno, to pay 40 bucks for last nights show...I'd probably walk away feeling a bit ripped off, unless the band was really good. (Don't they always have a band at Cayuga?) But...that's Cayuga's call, not the OSS.

I fear that Cayuga's going to have to learn fast that, hey, race fans can and will pay good bread to see a stellar show, but to pay a premium price on a ticket to see the equivalent of a regular Sat nite show will leave a bad taste in people's mouths.

There, that's my half-awake Sunday morning/afternoon ramble.

Shadowracer: I feel that Cayuga seems to be committing a cardinal sin on their ticket pricing and have really overpriced some unknown commodities. I agree the OSS should be a support division to some regular shows at various tracks first-they have to learn to walk before they can run. The problem is if they run at Flammy, for example, fans will see that the local LMs are faster, so they will ponder what's the big deal and I wonder what the times at Mosport were like in comparison to the local LLMs.
 Regardless of what Cayuga is charging, I couldn't care less about what cover band is playing. The racing should be the entertainment.
 This coming weekend's ASA LM/Oscaar show at $45.00 is attrocious considering the ASA entry list is 18 cars and I expect Oscaar will be about the same. Going head to head with a number of Saturday night tracks is just plain dumb. I'm afraid the new owners are a little naive and will learn the hard way. They should have kept the prices lower to start with to build an audience and then raise the prices according once things are established.

One way to get around the $10 increase is to buy group rate, which is a minimum of 20 tickets. I know this isn't feasible for most, but if you can gather a few fans/buddies together this is an option. I still feel that the $99 season pass is the way to go, even if you can't make all the races, this is a bargain. And the season passes are still available. I know a couple of races have already been completed, but you can still get your moneys worth.

Just wanted to make a few remarks concerning the oss race at cayuga.The car count inproved by 3 cars from the week before which is a good thing.The racing was was good with lots of passing and some good battles up front  28 ,27,80,43,82,81 .also the racing was clean .Jay Dorr was in the pits looking at getting a car to run.This is a good series and needs time to grow which it will.The price at the front gate was way to high ,that is a reason for the crowd being low.should be good at sauble.Ps hope dave gets the car fixed and is feeling a little better.

This is all I could find on a Gauntlet race. I imagine they will modify the rules for Cayuga. I can't imagine racing on the track after something tlike this.

GAUNTLET RACE
A team race with good guys and bad guys. The Gauntlet Bus (a small school bus) contains the driver and a crew of at least two. The bad guys are driving mid size cars maximum 5 that try to keep the Gauntlet Bus from competing 8 - 10 laps around the Figure 8 track. The Gauntlet crew is equipped with water extinguishers filled with flour and water, water balloons, rotten fruit, watermelons, tomatoes to throw at the attackers, the attackers try to pin the Gauntlet Bus by whatever means they can. A truly enjoyable event that takes a very skilled Gauntlet driver to win this event.

I dunno. That's usually called a Match race, but you could be right. I like FromtheStands's definition better. The potential for kerfuffle-ry is astounding! 

Though...I can see how they might not want the ASA guys slipping around in whip cream and rotten watermelon.
