I had heard the top 3 in LM were Howse, Macguines, and Chenoweth.. Chenoweth won the triple crown too apparently..

20 latemodels...dave elliott returns and is fast qualifier...on redraw he starts 5th, stewart and shaw start front row...stewarts car leads the first part and after 1/2 way his car starts smoking and fire is seen, so they throw a caution and he is done...paul howse takes the point with maginnis who started 17th second...3/4 thru gary elliot and shaw get together sending elliott nose first into the wall hard...race continues to the end with howse holding off maginnis and chenoweth taking 3rd and a well deserved Grisdale overall series championship...

29 mini stocks...55 watson dodge wins, 66 bossom nissan second, 15 dean honda 3rd.

15 thundercars...73 troback wins, 72 russnell second, 02 erin bailey third.

20 pro challenge...88 wins, 20 thomson second , 99 third.

great crowd...

Great crowd and great racing.
Junior Hanley shows up and gives Howse a few adjustments and look at him go.
Good move Paul.
Pro Challenge is way too much fun to watch now with 20+ cars starting regularly.
John needs to do something with the dust situation in the pits.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Junior is actually Howse's regular crew chief.

The track also announced that they are planning some major renovations. Changing the banking in the corners, widening the track, beer garden, etc.

Kudos to them if they do it. It'll leave Delaware the only asphalt track in Ontario....except maybe Sauble, that hasn't gotten a face lift yet.

yep-their previous face lift (12 yrs ago????) must have been done by Dr Nick Riviera. Didn't improve racing one bit. They have to get rid of the curse of the double heats also for some classes which chases fans away on nights that aren't special events.
Washrooms need improvement (like three times the capacity) and food service is way too slow with the three line format-one for tickets, one for fries and drink, and then line up again at the bar-b-que. The half ticket thing has to go.
Racing would be better if they got rid of the Nascar wanabee syndrome and got rid of two way radio for late models. Too much radio control driving and the money spent on expensive team radios could be better spent (like on a fresh crate).
PA system needs an upgrade also-can't be clearly heard above row 8
And for pete's sake, an improved track would be nice but if the general public knows nothing about it, what's the point. Perhaps if you don't advertise in the local newspaper, you get no coverage. For example, Tim Miller's column in the Spec today was about the American Lemans weekend at Mosport in two weeks.

mike the only ones doing double heats this year are the latemodels...the others run a set of heats and a consi only if the have more cars than needed for the feature...so thunders more than 24 and minis more than 30...yes washrooms really need improving.

yep Crash-that's why I said "some classes". I heard the Flammy lm drivers actually voted in favour of double heats. I figure if they want more track time, add 15 laps to the feature.
That's one thing that's keeping me from going back to the revamped Sunset Speedway. They have lots of cars but run double heats for everyone making a real long night, especially with photos after each heat, etc. Last night, I think you'd agree, Ohsweken showed how to move a program along. Cheers
Mike

Actually the racing at sunset was done fairly early,i was home in barrie before 10:45 and that was with a medical emergency at the track that red flaged it for 15-20 minutes.
