1. Steve Munro, 2. Sylvain Lacombe, 3. Matt Moffitt. Anyone have the rest of the results?
-
was just on the capital city speedway website loking at the photos from that race, and WOW did ken baird ever go for a wild ride, good to see he was okay, ive never seen a racecar that high in the air before.
-
It was a long day at the track Saturday.
Ken's wild ride was one the worst I've seen in 30 + plus years at the track.
It was great to see Ken walk away you won't find a nicer guy willing to help out his fellow competitors than Ken Baird.
Also have congradulate my nephew Matt on his third place finish were a low buck team and didn't have much experiance with Latemodels until a few weeks ago.
A thanks goes to Ken Baird for helping MTM racing sort out the car and keeping us in tires to finish out the season.

There is a video of the accident on Ken's site www.mainstreetracing.com truely amazing to watch...just wow.

The video clip is on the news page.
IT was definetly a WILD ride. I haven't seen somebody hit that wall that hard since Mike Glinzki(spelling?) hit the wall in similar fashion about 8 years ago. Like Ken's car, it had very little sheet metal left on it. Glad to see he walked away.
All in all a good day of racing at the track. Dissapointing there was only 17 cars who up, and only 5-6 CCS regulars, but they still provided a very good show for the fans.
Anybody know why Jeff Hanley went into the pits? I didn't think he broke anything was he just pissed cuz he got sent to the back of the pack???
-
wow why would a track have such a dumb and dangerous wall in the track like that?
-
It goes to show the idiot in he 70 car is the same everywhere he goes.
-
Sure hope Ken is alright.
Just a note:
That track is also a drag strip that is why the wall is the way it is I guess.

Well yes and no, the addition of the dragstrip is only a few years old, however the turn one wall has always been there. Mike Glinsky and Tim Dorning can attest to that, they have also climbed that wall with much the same spectacular results.
That section of the track has always been the exit to the pits. In years past there was a chicane to slow people down. The problem now is that with the addition of the dragstrip along the front stretch there is no visual or strucural chicane to caution the drivers to slow down, and they tend to fly into that corner.
The video shows that Ken was pushed up the track by a driver is very clear.
I was not there but was told that this driver was put to the rear of the pack for jumping the start and was driving erratically trying to get back to the front.
Once again a well built safe chassis has saved the driver from any serious injuries. Thank god for the rule book.

The drag strip was always there. At one time it was a 1/8 mile strip, start line in the pits and finish line at the oval start finish line. It was funny watching the drag racers trying to slow down enough to make the corner and exit the oval on the back stretch. More than a few did not make the corner and ended their fun in the guardrail. That was before they made the track a dirt track in around 77. Not sure if they had drag races after that until they made the new strip a few years ago.

We were told that Hanley and 54 Mike Beyore were told not to come back to track.
It was a disgrace to the sport how these two drivers acted Saturday.
-
im pretty sure there are 3 sides to this story but one thing is Hanley was spanking the feild and got put to the back for jumping the start on a lapped car. Nice call

About the wall at turn #1 - Maybe modified like Autodrome St-Eustache...
Because, at Autodrome St-Eustache, they also have DragStrip in front of the Grandstand that continue over Turn #1.

How about finishing order for positions 4-17 ? Can someone post them ?

Yes it was, and there was some new damage when Ken Baird's car landed on it.

In the other thread I count 8 regulars. Any idea why no 27 or 31 locals? Also thought Robblee was supposed to be there.

Beyore seems to be a bit of a side show!!!,last time at CCS he fought with Munro this time it was riopelle ,too bad he wasnt man enough to wait for dave to get his HANS and helmet off Instead he ran around punching tow truck drivers and track officials who were there doing their job,Him and the #70 are a real class act i'll say !!!LOL as far as hanley jumping the start on a lapped car that is B.S. there were no lapped cars starting in the top 3 this was made very clear at the drivers meeting before the race!!!if hanley would learn little patience he could easily have won that race!

Wasn't it the 91 beyore that Steve went after for spinning him. The 54 was getting towed off at that time or was there more in the pits? I do see the 91 didn't come back on the 9th.

thats great, people going after a handicap person.. smart!
People with visible and invisible disabilities have been fighting for years to be seen as, and be treated as any other person.
The Ontario government has taken major initiatives to bring in legislations to ensure parity with their Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. One of the key complaints of people with disabilities is that they are treated differently than others.
Soooooooo.......
If a person wants to act like an "A__hole" then they should be treated like any other "A__hole"
