JG you seem to know what is going on with Tony so why don't you enlighten us all. Are you just speculating that Cascar is going going gone.......or do you know for a fact¿ Were you at the banquet¿ If so fill us in. I couldn't make it so I can't do it this time around.

:?:  :D Why are you guys so surprised at the results of this poll?? I agree V that the NASCAR touring series don't pay much, but it's no different in CASCAR. CASCAR teams race for lunch money...if that. Anything would be a welcome change. Here is the reality check, NASCAR is the largest and most successful brand in Stock Car racing whether that is the US, Canada or overseas. As a sponsor, who is investigating becoming involved in motorsports in general, if they had two proposals in front of them for a Canadian product, One branded NASCAR and one branded CASCAR, guess who they are going to call first??? a branded NASCAR touring series in Canada will revitalize what is now a dead deal.

Tony is done like dinner, I heard that he wanted to cancel the banquet and just send the checks and fold CASCAR because he was so pissed off at this NASCAR weekly track stuff. Then I heard that CASCAR was sold for sure blah, blah, blah....

Also heard there will be an announcement at the banquet. Doubt it, same story every year.

If my gut would be right, Billy and the Boys down in Daytona I am sure have offered a deal to Tony that would probably give Tony heart palpitations from anger as I am sure it would no more than a pittance and a retention royalty.

I am sorry boys, but Tony had the world on a string with a least three to four legimate 6 and 7 figure offers in the last two years and played games with every serious player. He tried to manipulate the deals like only Tony can do. I know of one that came out of the US, he took them all the way down the road, legals and all and then hit them up for more money the day it was supposed to close...they walked. He is the without a doubt the most poorly advised man I have ever seen or just stubborn as hell.

Moral of the story, whatever happens to CASCAR and is happening to CASCAR is Tony's making....bottom line. That is why you see people voting the way they are....

The Poll:

Well, it has been up for about 2 weeks now, and I must say, I am surprised at the results.

I expected more votes, and I thought they would be in the opposite direction. It seems that the people that decided to participate in the poll at an average of 2 to 1 are in favor of CASCAR switching to NASCAR.

I am not in agreement with the results, but that is just one monkey's opinion.

I feel that we need CASCAR, to keep racing in Canada decidedly Canadian. Far too many things these days are being swallowed up by our big neighbour to the south.

Any comments??

Seems that the 2004 Dodge AOM champ will bring home somewhere around 14 000$$ with all the bonuses.

"If there was a touring series, it would be attractive to the driver's and teams as well. I'm sure of that."

What would make you say that?  None of the current NASCAR touring Series below CTS pay anything worth running for.  As in CASCAR, the teams use their own sponsorship for most of their revenue and chase a championship for the exposure, fun, excitment, thrills, local fame and (now and then) a chance to move up the ladder maybe.  No one is in Winston West or the SouthWest Tour for the purses.

Also, remember that the AOM local purse money... whether the weekly series is branded NASCAR, or CASCAR, or ISA, or whatever...  is raised locally by AOM.  At least I think so.  As I understand it, only the Championship Fund money is provided by NASCAR...no?

That may be true. I've just found out what AOM will be offering the "NASCAR Weekly Series" driver's. Very attractive. If there was a touring series, it would be attractive to the driver's and teams as well. I'm sure of that.

This was all an exercise to invoke some creative thinking on this thread, and I don't mean "Mitch's Brand" either, and to see what the feelings are out there. Your "2 cents" worth is just as valuable as anyone else's.

I am surprised at the voting though, I really thought the numbers would be the other way around.

At this time it's swayed heavilly toward CASCAR's 2 series going NASCAR.

Well GM, I think the question is pretty hard to answer without knowing what NASCAR would offer (as opposed to CASCAR) at whatever level.

And maybe its all a non-starter anyhow.  Seems to me that NASCAR already has 8 or so touring series in the US.... some of which have small car counts, low prize money. and unsponsored teams.  Anyone been to a Winston West event lately, or watched one on TV?  I'll take CASCAR any day over that series for entertainment and presentation.

I can't think that NASCAR would want to tackle another series just to say they have it.... and I'm not sure any Canadian team, driver, or fan would be overly impressed with the NASCAR style of racing at any level below the big flagships of WC, BGN, and CTS.

Just my 2 cents.

I was just checking on the poll, and there are seven votes in right now, 6 want both series to go NASCAR and 1 wants the Super Series to stay CASCAR.

This can't be a good representation of the feelings out there, lets see some more votes.

Well, heard that there will be more news coming in about 2 weeks. i hear that they want to be sure who is willing to go with the new program.. More wait and see but this came from a pretty reliable source.

Well... after reading this I though, well things are slow, and while we are waiting for the announcement from CASCAR, why not find out how people feel about all of this, and if CASCAR's announcement is to switch over to NASCAR completely, maybe this will give them some input. Who knows eh?

Rememeber, this is just a rumour, thats why I left it in this thread.
