Thorold, Ontario (April 28) – There’s no better way to start your Saturday Mornings then tuning into the award winning Banned Word/Site Radio broadcasts hosted by Erik Tomas - bright and early at 7 AM on 105.1 FM The River.
This time of year – there’s nothing that will help you more than the Open-Line Garden Show from 8 to 10 hosted by Bruce Zimmerman.
And there’s no better way to finish off your Saturdays then by coming to Merrittville Speedway – especially this weekend as 105.1 The River launches the 2010 Championship Chase – Saturday May 1st!
“Race fans had to like last week’s Baron Roofing Spring Sizzler,” reveals (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “the racing was thrilling with just show up points on the line … what’s it going to be like when the real points begin … a night at the track this summer is going to be extremely exciting!”
All 5 of the Thorold track’s Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions will not have last year’s champions defending their titles as in the J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites, Hoosier Stocks and Original Pizza Logs Sportsman Divisions – Jamie Gilbert, Rob Murray and Chad Chevalier respectively have all moved up to new division in 2010.
For the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders and L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modifieds – Matt Deschamps and Larry Lampman are not racing this season. If April 24th’s action keeps up – a good mix of rookies and veterans should keep race fans on the edges of their seats all season long.
When the gates open at 5:30 May 1st, Merrittville’s Mascot ‘Crash Cougar’ is bound to have some friends with him … including ‘Bones’ from the Niagara IceDogs Junior A Hockey Club.
“Next season … the IceDogs have a good nucleus of players returning – so maybe next year they’ll still be in the race for the Memorial Cup,” anticipates Bicknell, “we are happy to host their Fan Appreciation Night here at the race track.”
If you haven’t taken in a game at the Gatorade Garden City Complex yet – you owe it to yourself to do so next season. You can also take in a game on 105.1 The River as pre-season and all home and away games – regular season and playoffs are broadcast live by your hosts – Chuck Lafleur and Ted Lehman.
