They'll be turning in the sticks and gloves for racing suits and racecars this week at Laird.
On Thursday, August 4th the Laird International Raceway is proud to present the NHL Celebrity/Charity Race. The night of stock car racing will be highlighted by an Intermission Autograph session by NHL stars Trevor Daley, Tyler Kennedy and Marty Turco along with local AHLer Drew Fata and some yet to be announced local hockey celebrities.
Then the stars of the ice will take to the track in a showdown of their own. On the line is a $1000 donation by the races winner to the charity of his choice courtesy of Norm VanHoek and Rivercity Motorsports.
Adding to the program will be a 50-lap, $1500 to win A&W Restaurant Late Model Special along with a regular program in the Jiffy Car Wash Outlaw Modifieds, Rivercity Motorsports LIR Modifieds, Maitland Motors Factory Stocks and KM Contruction Super and Stock Fours.
Time trials are set for 6 p.m. with racing action at 7 p.m.
Admisson prices are $14 for Adults, $12 for Seniors, $6 for Youth (12 to 18) while Kids 11 & Under are just $3.00.
Sault Ste. Marie and area is a racing community and hockeytown and we combine the both of best worlds this Thursday at the Laird International Raceway.
